To be fair to Setu that 2nd try wasn't all his fault. The work was Kane Evans on the inside was really poor. He sat back on the line and let Hinchecliffe get outside him way too easily. Sure Setu turned his toes in and committed but if Evans has a bit of line speed there like the rest of the line then he shuts it down easy. There was another instance in the second half where Hinchcliffe ran a nice wedge line behind the markers. Cam Smith did what he does best and engages Aubo at first marker and puts Hinchcliffe through the gate behind the ruck but it was really lazy from Evans at A defender. He again had no line speed to close the gate behind the ruck and just hung out a lazy arm. Thankfully Isaac Liu chased Hinchcliffe down and made him and Blake Green pass and forced the error otherwise it's another try.

On Liu I thought he played his best game to this point the other night. His footwork and passing at the line was dynamic and he run into the defence with venom and really bent them a few times. Not sure how different his role actually is coming on as a prop rather than starting as lock but I thought he really picked up his workload. Will be interesting to see how Robbo works his interchange with Guerra back. Taukeahio and Aubusson have certainly shown that they can be just as valuable when starting. I think we have the best forwards in the comp. Just lacking a little bit of depth with Kennedy and Meehan both unavailable. Such a shame about Kennedy. He really looks in for a great season from what I saw in the Manly trial. While I don't think Manu and Setu are as bad as some people are making out, they certainly haven't added a great deal. Hopefully someone can come out of 20s and give Robbo another option. We flogged the Storm who are coming first 54-6 on the weekend so I'm guessing the forwards were pretty impressive. Shaq Mitchell looks a player. Nat Butcher looks like a great worker who wouldn't be too far off a call up. And not sure when Vincent Leuluai is back but he was on the cusp last year and runs like an absolute beast. I guess it's just a matter of how well Robbo thinks they will fit into the defensive structures in place.

Thankfully Jake Friend back makes a massive difference to our go forward. As a side, can't wait to see his kicking game progress even further this season. Almost nailed a cross field 40/20 the other night. Maybe some tactical kicking from him out of dummy half is the answer to our mid-range kicking issues. Our long kicking is awesome. Our attacking kicks have improved out of sight even though Pearce put one very meek kick in on Saturday. Just those mid range kicks that let us down. I'd like to see Pearce put more time into mastering the torp bomb or the floater because end over end just gives you no chance of a turn over these days.

Get Pearce to watch videos of Johnny Peard. He should have joined Al Qaeda with the danger poised by his bombs.

            Yeah, I went there.

Good news - with a bit of luck he might only miss 3 games (2 weeks off over the next 6).

He was picking up his bag at the airport with his bad arm so it mustn't be too bad.

So that means what? 2-3 games missed?

Not the end of the season thankfully but could like spell the end of a top 4 shot. I expected us to finish 5-8 this year so seem about on track.

Good news but also devastating. Certainly the leader of the team. Going to be tough without him. Geez our depth has been tested early.

If we don't finish top 2 I'd be really disappointed. Our squad is still some of the best in the league. We've had to travel to North QLD, Brisbane and Melbourne already this year. All our losses were by narrow margins and with some luck we probably could have won them all. Our only real stinker was against Cronulla ... a mental issue more than anything. We have missed Friendy immensely (he's prob our best player) and the losses of Ferguson and Guerra have seriously affected us.I thought Maloney was good Sat night and if he returns to form we'll be unstoppable! I'm hopeful we can re-sign him ASAP!
