Interesting article from Roy Masters in the SMH about substitution changes and the relevance of forward with speed and mobility and how the power game is being eased out. The changes come at a time when contracts have been renewed with bopper forwards.

And only 6 losses throughout the entire season - amazing!

And two of those came in the last 3 rounds. We were 17-4 at one stage.

This is embarrassment on so many levels it wasn't gamesmanship it was cheating. The commentators have made a joke out of themselves as well. No respect for anyone involved in the decision and the reporting of this.

Should be on a charge of contrary conduct and the referees dropped they are just making it up - Thurston's line of questioning was right

It was such a disgrace and highlighted the three major issues I have with NRL at the moment:

            1. Diving
            2. Incompetent Referees
            3. Souffs bias

Hopefully some change will come from it.

You can tell he's not a Souffs junior as he had to clear his conscience after the game.

              Roadkill will be livid!

Souffs are already hitting the wall and it's only 6 games into the season.

They looked faarked in the second half which made it great viewing.

They're not hitting the wall. They had Sutton, walker and Reynolds out. If we had fergo, maloney and cordner out wed struggle against the Cowboys as well. I do think souths will hit the wall soon due to every team aiming up against the premiers and difficulties with the physicality that comes from having that target but I don't think they're there yet. Sometimes key injuries mid year can be a blessing in disguise. When we won the comp jwh missed over 5 games from suspension from memory and cordner was out for a while. Last year for souths they lost Luke and Sutton for a while.

Imo the season is just too long for players bodies to hold up.

Do the referees still have tip sheets? If so are they updated or are they still using the 7 year old "Roosters cheat a lot - penalise them all match" ones?

Surely they need a heads up about Souffs grubby ruck antics, both in defence and especially attack.

Everyone except apparently the refs can see what Inglis is up to in almost every tackle - crawling on his knees into the crotch of the marker and getting tangled, persistently walking off the mark to put the markers "offside" and running into them to be awarded a penalty, and just plain old dropping the ball and throwing his hands in the air.

Let's not forget Isaac Luke - he's every bit as good as Inglis. The very first set last night he ran straight into one of the markers and just dropped the ball - sure enough a penalty was given on the 4th tackle and a try soon followed.

They looked pretty rooted from where i was sitting.

They were up 12 - 10 at half time and went down 30 - 12 .Says it all really!

Line speed was snail like in the 2nd half. Their shape was lazy/poor.Defensive alignments all over the place.Slow to react etc

I'll never forget up 12-0 in the qualifying final having Luke push SKD standing at marker waiting for the ball carrier to play the ball, and we were penalised.
They scored that set, the NRL fight back had begun.

Which begs the question, who's more important to Souths, Reynolds or Inglis. Seems to me when Reynolds is out, they do go so well.

Yep. That was the "pocket" referee Ben Cummins (who was at Souffs training during the semis). We were up 12-0 and had them under pressure deep in their quarter. A true game changer. Then a 6-0 penalty count in the 2nd half.

The pocket ref really takes on its true meaning.
