I can only think this falls largely on POS's head, hence the balding little fat ****s (no he isn't big boned) churlish unprofessional outburst earlier in the week. The club wanted to take an each way bet with Roger and failed. They didn't trust him enough to succeed at fullback so held back on offering him a contract until he proved himself. The problem was by then it was too late. Tomkins had decided he wanted out of the Warriors and a ready made replacement was sitting uncontracted for 2016. I can only think that at the back of the mind of the powerbrokers at the club was we had a rare talent in Latrell Mitchell who is also a fullback. They were unsure Rog was the answer so thought they could apply a wait and see approach. Had they offered him $400K a season extension over 2 or 3 years mid last year they probably would have got the signature over the line but they lacked faith and were blinded by the what if Latrell was better and we lost him instead. This was a big mistake. Latrell has done nothing so far but beat up on SG Ball teams, just like Ryan Williamson. Rog had a brilliant full debut season and starred in the World Cup, the ability to play at the top level was proven, albeit not at fullback.
What I find extremely hypocritical was POS saying Rog did not see the bigger picture, if they had faith he was the fullback for the long haul, a deal would have been done long ago, not a month into the season. Rog would have known about this uncertainty so who can blame him when his own club did not have complete faith in him. An initial offer of $400K this year was derisory. He is a far better player than $400K. Moa is on $400K, he is just a 40-50 minute a game battering ram. SKD got $350K for 4 years back in 2011 off the back of his 2010 year when the salary cap was millions less. Jennings will be on around $600K this year and next. Centre/Wingers can come and go, not fullbacks.
By offering a low ball $400K, this would have prompted Rog and his manager to look for competing offers and when the Warriors came in with $800K it was game over. Think about it, he gets the massive contract, get's to go back to his home town and be a star in a one city, heck one country team. Coming back with $525K for 2 years at the death was still on the low side for what he is worth and really not in the same ballpark. There is a saying in a hot market, you go in with your best offer. If the club could have offered the $525K initially, maybe he signs rather than looking elsewhere. We low balled, we lost and I don't blame him for going because the lack of faith was there and I suspect POS went in with the loyalty card which would be a bit rich for a mercenary like POS whose job is to recruit players elsewhere....

If he had any brains he would see that no one ever signs with the Warriors and comes out of it a better player. He'll have money in the bank, but that's all he'll have. When his next contract is due, he'll get what he's worth -- $350-$400K. Or worse: he'll end up in England.
How do you know that ? Maybe he will reach Shaun Johnson levels and become one of the most marketable players in the game ? From all accounts he has his head screwed on right. Even if the Warriors don't perform greatly on the field, his skillset will shine in that jungle ball team. Barring major injury, his stock will never see below $350k for a long time.
Also, I laugh at your suggestions that this young kid and his family should just stick by Roosters, Politis and co because they will be better off in the long run. I'm sure if all of those fall on tough times, they will really be thinking of RTS. He took the high percentage deal and so he should. He has a short lived career.
If you were in his shoes, I can really see you turning down that offer. I can just see it now - 'Honey, I've just turned down a potential $800,000 over the next three years, but it's ok. Uncle P has got me'
Some of you guys are clowns. The kid has fulfilled every commitment asked of him and more. What's better is that he represented our colours like a champion. I too wish he would stay, but understand his decision.
PS andrew walker wishes RTS would catch all balls because he earns such a big amount. Yet stuck by Mini when the bloke couldn't catch an inside ball or field a grubber to save his life.
One thing is for sure. It would have been fantastic to see RTS play fullback last year running off SBW. He would of added another dimension to our team. Oh well, hindsight is a beautiful thing.

the worriers are next year a 2 man team ,lol@them for that. their nsw cup team is now shit considering how good they were a few years ago, and the 20 are only average. so they have lost the direction that IVan Cleary set up , development, and instead are buying up . back end deals are just that butt1911 1912 1913 1923 1935 1936 1937 1940 1945 1974 1975 2002 2013 2018 2019 2020

I formed my opinion based on his short spell at FB when Mini was out injured, and, on some of the weaker areas of his game whilst he was playing on the wing.
The Warriors also based their offer on his 2015 form. With Tomkins under performing and wanting to move back home, they simply got lucky and had a loose $800k to throw at the kid.

No. I'm talking about being better off in the long term by remaining with a powerful club. The Warriors will never be anything other than a basket case - he does realise that, doesn't he? Tomkins went there as a superstar, too, but it didn't take the ramshackle Kiwi culture long to break him, did it? The history of the Warriors is littered with high-priced recruits who destroyed their careers. "For the love of a lousy buck I watched them die," as Bob Dylan once sang.
Maybe RTS will be the exception, but I doubt it. I'll be watching very closely when he signs his next contract.
If I was Nick P, I'd turn him loose now, instead of at the end of the year.

I never thought I would agree with that fletch but after watching the last 2 weeks I agree 100%. Constantly putting his hand up to be involved. Can turn a game by himself. I find it difficult to believe that they won't at least try to change his mind.
I watched Latrell Mitchell last night and yes he is very talented but he is no where near ready. As you would expect with a 17yr old boy. Crikey, when I was 17 all I was thinking about was convincing Daneena Shepherd to come behing the school toilet block with me! (Sorry RedWhiteBlue) 😖
Latrell missed a heap of last ditch tackles and on occasions didn't even touch the player. At least a mother year.
I reckon up the offer.Embrace the Hate! JC
