drawing a long bow there. Happy for that to be given a try. Our defence for their kicks was quite poor yesterday. That grubber for Holmes's try was very poorly read by tupou(?)

Yeh, the Lewis try was fine. Even if it was referred, would've been given.

The referees had no impact on our clubs' performance or the result of the match and it is sour grapes to suggest that they were.

Precisely. Very unlike us. As others have mentioned we missed our General JWH badly yesterday. Without him our defensive and offensive structures were out of sorts.

Just on penalties we don't receive, did anyone notice in the 56th minute Fifita come in with a 2nd effort/downward strike on Nene and no penalty given . Even Gould picked up on it and a few other anomalies in the 1st half. That Cummins just despises us.

Opposition teams know that the way to beat us is to complete high. Simply because we only get about 2 genuine piggy backs downfield for ruck infringements or 10m offsides every game. Yes, we only get about 4 pens a game... but look closely and you'll notice that even 2 or 3 of those are for head highs, or offside from a kick, tackling a player midair, a kick off out on the full, or a penalty with 20 seconds to go lol

And so they know that if they hold the ball, we have to make all the running to gain attacking opportunities. Last year we had teams play us and finish with some obscene completion rates - 34/36 wasn't uncommon.

It's why we struggle against Souffs. They almost always complete high, especially against us, in the knowledge that we'll get zero subjective slowing the play the ball down or offiside calls go our way. And in comparison they get 6-7 genuine piggy back penalties every game.

I'm almost certain our lack of penalties is discussed by opposition coaches. It's now such an obvious trend that they'd be idiots to ignore it in their game plans. "Complete high, lay on them for a split second longer as you'll get away with it..."

Probably the most insipid performance we've put in during the Robinson era. I actually fell asleep during the first half.

C'mon TVG, did you miss our performance vs Cronulla last year when we were up 24nil and lost?

That was our most insipid performance in 5 years.

this will be the new trend rather than the against penalties or received as highlighted by tommy and the axe which was debated during the week. the nrl has been found out hence the smother yesterday with the low penalty count.$sport$bet partnership clouds results as evident of the punters refund in the scum vermin game.
its got me miffed how our capt or coach does not get our forwards deeper.easiest way to counter the offside.i am slowly losing interest in the game. its becoming like the old skool wrestling of pre determined results.
cummins has never liked the roosters. go back to the anasta king hit by faalongo in 2008 says it all.

Refs had no bearing on the result but yes it was no surprise to see Ben Cummins showing us no love again.

We got our first ruck penalty after 79 minutes & 30 seconds of play from him. If it wasn't so frustrating it'd be comical.

I should note I don't believe in all the conspiracy theories but I do think we're an unfashionable club, probably one of the most disliked clubs out there. I think it's fair to assume that there's an unconscious bias and possibly even conscious on the part of a few against us. History and statistics seem to back up that theory too. We are what economists would call an outlier, let down by the system and unfairly treated.

Never blame the ref for a loss until we do absolutely everything right and still lose. Maloney had the worst game I've seen him have. Cordner and Guerra did so much work in the first half that Pearce struggled to fine any line runners. Sharkies played better than us on the day and I'm fine with that knowing that we have friend and jwh to come back.

If you think that we deserved a ruck penalty before the 79 minute then the refs performance did have a bearing on the result.

What had a greater bearing? A lack of penalties awarded to us or our inability to complete, an atrocious kicking game, a lack of field position and a mountain of goal line defence in the first half? Our players dictated the result.

I'm not disputing that we were poor however there is a flow on effect from not receiving the penalties you are entitled too.

Highly doubt any of the players are mentioning the refs after that game as an excuse. Pearce knows he played shit and Maloney the same. Robbo also knows the team was well below par. We'll leave it at that
