Jimmy playing for Manly against the Roosters?
Outrageous...and must not be allowed to happen.
Can't we get him a 3rd party contract...other clubs don't seem to have any problem getting their stars a lot of extra 3rd party cash...legally.

Does no one think Langi might be ready to step up by then?

Unfortunately Langi hasn't got what it takes, he doesn't have a passing or kicking game.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                Here's looking at you, kid.

If Manly can find the money to sign Maloney...then why can't we?

IMO we have players not in the top 17 we could cut to find the money to keep our magical "try assists", "pointscoring", wizard 5/8.

I'm not in favour of shedding 4-5 of of our youngsters to retain a player like maloney. I desperately hope he stays but depth is what wins comps. 17 players just isn't enough to get through a season anymore. No point retaining maloney and then needing 3-4 Wyong boys in the team at the same time. If maloney goes Hastings will fill the void and develop. Patience breeds success.

I still see 5/8th in Sheck's future. He's got the hallmarks of another Lockyer.

This post makes no sense mate. Youngsters don't count under the main 25 player salary cap. Young Neviles come and go anyways, don't worry about them.

You are right that depth wins comps though. However depth in the halfs is Maloney, Pearce and Hastings rather than Hastings, Pearce and Park footballer X.

I suppose it comes down to how much he wants and more importantly how long of a deal he wants, he's worth Junior Junior's money but with Hastings in the mix 2 years is probably as long as he's going to get with us.

this is only partially correct because these day most of the most talented youngsters become part of the top 25 pay structure long before they actually make first grade.

take Latrell Mitchell as a perfect example we are currently negotiating a long term deal with him, the only way he stays with us is if he feels he will get a shot at first grade in the near term and if he is given a nice fat contract upgrade which would easily push him into our top 25 earners, if we don't there will be 15 other teams more than happy to accommodate him.
