Is BJ good enough to be a first-grade standard winger?

    - Mini (is a real winger but he is past his days and is a FB anyway... another position we don't have anybody for.)
    - J Carney is all pecks and arms... no legs. Needs to lay off the 'roids and gym work, grow about 1m taller + do some squats/track work. When he loses the pecks/arms his ball skills will return, right now his arms struggle to extend beyond his pecks, so the ball just bounces off his pecks.
    - BJ is a typical big islander... no speed/agility, but a lot of strength and passion. Considering he is a back rower/centre he does a decent job out on the wing.

When we signed all those back rowers we should have thought about our FB/winger situation. The irony is that we're rubbish in the forwards (bar Kennedy and Friend) ... and Kennedy's a random, not a star signing!!! Mid last season he got sick of playing for the Jets and randomly turned into a machine!!

Sorry I'm just emotional... I should shut up, but gawd it annoys me how we simply don't have players for certain positions.
This. Look, we have a lot of talented youngsters who need to play regular first grade football and experience the ups and downs of first grade football, but that talent is only going to get us so far. I think we are two or even three experienced players - who can still play at the highest level - away from been a consistent finals side. I hate buying and don't want us to, but I think push has come to shove. We can't keep carrying has-beens like Mini, Ryles, Graham and Riddell. We need to move players into their best position, in this case Leilua to the forwards (probably off the bench), dump the excess, and fill the remaining spots with quality players or talented youngsters.

Who ran down the Broncos player off for the runaway try?

      BJ!

      He's 18?

We're going nowhere this year...time to experiment and get ready for next year.

BJ is not a winger. If not his Grand Final performance then the subsequent games this year should be enough to prove that. Pity Perrett is injured.

Myles ran down Merritt last year. Let's put him on the wing. Running down tries is not what makes a winger....

Bj to newtown too slow for wing not enough defensive grunt for middle. Put Blair
On wing, blood cordner Lowe and Atkinson in back row centers at some stage this year. Broncos went thru the pain last year and are now reaping

The point still stands. Running down tries is not what makes a winger. And he sure as hell shouldn't be fullback. Do you watch the game?

I think it is fair to say the "BJ on the wing" experiment has been a complete and utter failure...
