  • Hasler bags Gallop over Carney punishment

Just caught the 5.30 Foxsports news and they had an exclusive interview with Des Hasler who was scathing about Gallop applying inconsistent punishments. Went on about Carney being a repeat offender and Stewart a cleanskins etc, etc

Perhaps he should direct his anger at his own club for allowing the NRL to dictate the punishment handed down to Manly's employees

His player was up for a rape charge not a low level drink driving charge. He should keep his mouth shut because Watmough got very lucky not getting any punishment!!

Well to be honest it does suck for Manly. The NRL copped a lot of flak for suspending Stewart so quickly before any evidence came to light as he "brought the game into disrepute".

It is for this reason that I think the NRL acted a little more rationally this time. It was a low level drink driving charge and if his name wasn't Todd Carney it wouldn't have been news. Stewart was treated badly and Manly have every reason to feel cheated, but that's in the past and this time around the NRL delivered the correct punishment.

And let's not forget, Carney and his record still needs to front the courts...

No what's wrong was the initial punishment to Stewart. A precedence shouldn't be set if the methods used were found to be incorrect which I think the NRL have shamefully admitted behind closed doors.

Brett stewart did get treated badly but it is not a matter of delivering a consistent punishment its about correcting the previous unfair treatment.

besides low range drink driving compared to rape charge and the whole boozy saga that was surrounding the eagles at the time, its not the same.

ummmm, last time I checked rape charges were a little more serious than drink driving.

I just don't get how people cannot see the diffrence between what Manly and many other players did, and the bagging our great club is copping. I mean Lui and that other bloke from the tiges, who now plays for penny. What are people thinking?

please tell me your joking! stewart was at and official NRL function, got blind and was ejected from the premises only to head but a sponsor and later sexually assault a 17 yr old... carney was pissed at his mates house the night before and made the mistake of thinking that he was under the limit the next day. Watmaugh intentionally drove 50km over the limit in a high resdential area hence the 50km speed limit and nothing. WTF!
