Don't prejudge the bloke based on a game or two in which he may not have played in his preferred position.

Not every young player takes to the NRL like a duck to water and stand out from day one - many have relative shockers. But that doesn't mean that they won't become established and worthwhile first graders given time and opportunity.

Just as long as he isn't fullback

I was about to add that lol...

It's pretty embarrasing that I thought it was an OK idea at the time .. until he played lol..

Think about what you are all saying.......................

JONATHAN FORD playing HALF BACK for the ROOSTERS in FIRST GRADE.

            Lets move forward...not backwards.

Many were just as sceptical about TC playing FB for us at the start of last year. And that turned out OK for a few months.

Remember we are only talking about Jonno Ford as a fill in for a few games. I can't see how that could be seen as a backward move.

Definatley, I'd like to see freddy get invovled with the lower grades and learn coaching craft properly!

Regardless of whether or not it was the right thing to do at the time, whether or not Freddy needed to go, whether it was done the right way...

Thinking about Freddy's fall from grace makes me sick. It did at the time, and it still does now. I'll never forget seeing him after our loss to the Warriors in 2009. He just looked devastated, broken.

Nothing, bar a Roosters premiership, would make me happier than to see Freddy back in some capacity at the club.

Only got out to a few Jets games last year but he did have a hand in a lot of their tries. Smith obviously has very big wraps on him.
Precisely. He cracked his kneecap very early on (as R6 mentioned) & stayed on the field heavily bandaged which didn't allow him to move freely or play his natural game.
For supporters to judge him based on these circumstances is way too harsh.
Coach Smith saw Jono Ford play lower grades whilst at the Knights and obviously saw enough potential to persuade him to play for our feeder club The Newtown Jets last year.

interesting move with Jono ford in the halves.

Not sold on Anasta being a half, then again, i cannot see Ford playing as a half, just too big for the role.

i guess we will see what pans out.

Johno at 5/8 while Carney is recovering is our best option. I don't like the idea of Anasta at 5/8 with Pearce. It just didn't work last year. Johno is a 5/8; not a fullback and not a centre. Apart from Locky, I doubt there would be too many out and out 5/8s play well at fullback especially their first crack at first grade. Carney played some shit games at fullback and it was clear to many that that wasn't and never should be his position again. It is only while Carney is out so if anyone has a better option, please let Smithy know.
