Kostya and to a certain extent Fenech did fly the flag when the sport was really down in the dumps. Mundine has to be creditted with revitalising it more than both combined.

      I can't agree with that.

I'm only slightly interested in boxing but I loved watching Fenech and Tzyu fight because they were World Class fighters fighting other world class fighters. As a result, I watched just about all of their fights and even went to one.

I have not watched a single Mundine fight - not because I hate Mundine, just because he is an average fighter - certainly not great - and he fights chumps.

I asked him, and as I expected he gave nothing away....

Said he has not done up a deal yet and has to head into talks soon.....

I seriously doubt Uncle Nick will let shaun get away....

Thats said, I'm one of the few who thought he was good in 2009. He has never been the most classy player, and his ball skills leave much to be desired, but he has always been a solid runner with a good vision for where he needs to be in attack (let's not mention defence for now.)

In 2009 he scored a lot of good tries that were he playing for anybody other than the wooden spooners could have gone down as golden moment, match winners. Instead they were more just consolation prizes, with fans saying "why did he screw up thr other one?" or focussing on something stupid he had done during the game. When he scored an intercept try against the Tigers... WHO CARES?!?!? We won and I pity the fool who disses him for his effort during that game. 2009 He had a real knack for scoring out of nowhere (with no support from a bunch of lazy wankers who I won't name.) None of it mattered because we had Australia vs England (third test) cricket scores against us.

I think context is everything and it is hard to get respect when you are losing every game for obvious reasons...

I happen to know a bit about boxing too, spelling and grammar too for that matter, and when the two blokes were in the ring there was one winner. And it wasn't Danny Green.

Ottke has a record of 34 wins and 0 losses as a professional... a nobody? Kessler was WBA & WBC Super Middleweight champion... another nobody?

If you're going to engage in a discussion, at least use facts, not dribble you hear on AM radio.
At the time siper middle weigth was the chumps division, blokes not good enough for middle cruiser or heavy weight divisions do your home work! why isn't mundine at super middle weight now? because he would get his arse kicked. green called him out last year asking for the promised rematch, but after seeing roy jones get demolished MUNDINE didn't want a bar of it.
it's funny how Ottke and Kessler were world champs , then got beaten by Mundine a boxer who was flogged by a reality show winner[WOODS] BAAAHAAAA!

Mate, Mundine did fight both Ottke and Kessler and they both beat him. What are you on about?

I think we have a gibberer on our hands.

So, anyone know when this re-signing of SKD occurs?

There was no pay tv and everyone had to go to places like Canterbury racecourse to watch him fight Nelson. Kostya, although he lived here and fought professionally as an Australian didn't learn his chops here and is as much an Aussie boxer as Joe Bugner.

Go Aussie Joe Bugner. I heard a funny story about Aussie Joe once. A friend of a friend saw him in a video store or something in around about 1990. He said something along the lines of, "G'day Joe". Bugner looked him up and down and replied, " Thats Mr. Bugner to you son". Verry funny in my opinion but who is going to argue with a man that went the distance against Cassius Clay.

I'm no fan of Mundine and he makes it hard to like him but it is difficult to question his athleticism. I'm also dissapointed he didn't have more of a crack against better fighters. But he has made a truckload of cash. Good luck to him I say.

I saw someone here mention Mundine's charity work.

Defend him all you want. Rant on about him revitalising boxing, about his talent, about him being far and above Danny Green's right hook, label Wood a fluke, whatever you want... but if you are trying to justify Mundine as a person because of his charity work, kindly pull your head out of your rear end.

Mundine's charity work is the most disgraceful, PR-driven, insulting load of drivel I have ever seen. The work he does is nigh on non-existent. He couldn't give a flying **** about anyone except himself. On camera, or in fron he's Mary MacKillop in a cape saving Aboriginal druggies off the streets. Off camera, he couldn't give a ****.

Saying he does charity work is an insult to the people who devote their lives to trying to make a difference. He does sweet fairly adams compared to these people.

                          Rant over.

Would any world class sportsperson set up a reality tv contest to pick an athlete to compete against them and lose? He lost to a nobody.. He has never beaten anyone of note and only attracts attention not because he is a great boxer but because he is an a grade arsehole.. Real boxing enthusiasts don't rate him and it is no surprise at 35 he won't go overseas to fight real boxers.
