Also a better vertical leap for bombing raids which are often aimed at the centres

Yeah....it's done wonders for the team this year. Plus his knack at swerving and palming off. Our very own Jennings

Anasta is a better footballer than SKD, but SKD is a better centre than Anasta most days of the week... Sometimes not on gameday..

I haven't seen Anasta play centre but I have seen SKD play there. SKD is not a first grader. If all SKD can offer is that he is slightly faster than Anasta then for me Anasta offers more there than SKD. I would think that running slow in a straight line is better than running faster sideways.

So the consensus is Carney needs to be at 5/8, Anasta can't play at lock because he will disrupt what FPN, Myles and Maubs are doing and nobody wants him at centre because he is slow and you prefer SKD in the team . But Smithy will never drop him. Didn't Freddy have a similar problem and tried him out at fullback?

apart from his errors, the frustrating thing with skd is his addiction to that right foot step. Even when he runs from the right on an angle back to the left, he has to throw the step in, which gets him going backwards.

THAT is your most frustrating thing you find with SKD???

Without making this a FOSKD thread, when someone puts him into a gap (because I can't recall him ever creating one himself) he is like a dog chasing after a car. When he finally catches up with the car it's like "oh shit what do I do now?". He doesn't have a football brain.

apart from his errors, yes it is

I agree about his lack of brains, but if he would just run straight on occasions he'd be a much better centre

I've not seen someone overplay a step so much since Neil Hunt

I don't think he's long term option at the Roosters, but hey, we've hardly had a decent centre in 20 years

as for Braith, if Smith keeps him at 6 and puts Carney back to 1 when Pearce returns, then this season is a write off

                  maybe Brians already accepted that

Back to the topic, Perrett is too slow for a fullback, he is one of the slowest wingers in the Nrl. Only good for a hit-up. Can break the line with his strenghth, but is never there in support if someone makes a break.

Nice guy, but I thought he would of gained a few more extra skills since his disasterous debut for us all those years ago (break an ankle?? on debut on the wing).

                    Crikey.

I don't know if brian has accepted this year as a write off. I just don't think he has the ticker to cut Anasta. Everyone goes on about how he clears dead wood. But has he really ever cleared out a team captain, or high profile player?

I think we all know that this year is a building year. And to me we have already done that. We could be doing more by cutting Anasta. But if I were coach, i wouldn't be moving him to another position. He either is played at 5/8, or needs to be out of the team.

Don't know why people are still harping on about putting FPN back to prop. The bloke has been a much different football player since moving out wide as a wide running backrower.

Forget the position of "lock". Today's modern era it's just the third second rower.

he ****ed off Buderus to England.

Doesn't get any bigger than that.

If Smithy uses him correctly, I think Anasta has more to offer the team than some of the other brain dead or part timers in the team but Carney needs to get some games at 5/8 if we are to make the 8. Contrary to what some believe, we have the players to get there and if the forwards play like they did against Melbourne and the Titans (plus add JWH and potentially Cherri in the mix) a Pearce/Carney combo in the halves would be lethal IMO. So a spot needs to be found for Anasta. Lock is the likelihood and maybe centre as a long shot are the only options. I don't see this year as a write-off. Apart from the Dragons, no other team is dominating. Even the Dragons are not as dominating as say a Storm or Manly in the last few years. There are so many mediocre teams this year and on our day we can beat most and we are gradually improving in personel, defense and attack. But on some days we can be the most mediocre. To think that the Tigers are third should give our boys the confidence that they can have a good crack at the top 8.

We won't have to worry about who will be fullback next year.
