I think he has the pace. I think it's his agility and acceleration that is lacking.

      • Its the endurance that will keep these RL players from being a success in aussie rules.

AFL players are a completely different kind of athlete to NRL players. Greg Inglis moving to the AFL is like Usain Bolt trying his hand at a marathon.

There is no endurance in AFL. Do you realise how many interchanges they make a game? Each team makes 120+ interchanges a match.. Players start coming off after 2-3 minutes.

Players run 10-15 km per game.

Lots of interchanges but lots of running. They are elite athletes of a different kind to RL players. Endurance is by far the biggest stumbling block between the RL players and success in the AFL.

Karmichael Hunt speaking about his first VFL game:

"It was the most running I've ever done in any game in my career."
This article also discusses the same issue.

Hunt's endurance is McKenna's biggest concern after the code-crossing athlete suffering cramps during his first senior Australian rules match against Coburg last Saturday.

Mr Doo thats the silliest thing I have ever read about AFL, its all about endurance and fitness.
I don't love it but prefer it over succer any day, in fact the greatest thing ALF has done is take that prick Khunt off RL hands
The Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

When he's on.. he's on. I'd take him any day of the week if he was consistent
Which is why I would prefer SK-D and Linnett......they WANT to be Roosters!
                  You can't buy that.

                  • I agree about the sentiments about Inglis. Great player when he is on, but lazy as all hell for most games. I actually think him at fullback is his best position. He has plenty of time and room to move, he HAS to get involved at least once in a set of six and he is big enough to break the line and get a quick play the ball. I wouldn't want him at the club unless he got some consistency. For a 4,5 or 600k player, his performance doesn't live up to that tag week in week out. You can easily get two fantastic youngsters, such as Hoffman, Vidot or O'Neill for that price.

                    • Plus fullback would FORCE him to get involved which would lift his entire game.

Yep. My thoughts exactly. As far as I'm concerned, whenever he played at fullback he was the best player in the world bar none. He just had so much time to do something, and his size allowed him to get that quick play ball by thundering into the line. At centre... he is still world class but he doesn't have anywhere near as much time to really do something. But what do you do? When you have a great fullback in Slater then Inglis becomes a victim of circumstance.
