I'm sure I read somewhere that Pearce was a state level 800m runner growing up. So he's definitely got pace.

Geez, give Braith an even break will you.

This is a bloke who didn't play any of the trials and is still trying to find his niche in the playmaking triangle of himself, Pearce and Carney.

It's not as if he's demanding the ball constantly every set of six at 5/8. He is standing back and letting Pearce and Carney do most of the playmaking. He chimes in occasionally when he believes there's an opportunity for him.

FACT - Smith wants Carney at FB, so won't be in a rush to put him at 5/8. Any supporter who doesn't like it, tough, 'cause that's how it will be. So it's either Anasta or Jones at 5/8. Take your pick of those 2. Because short term Carney isn't an option.

Quit bagging the bloke who, together with Fitzy, has given more of himself to the team and the Club, on and off the field, than any other in recent years.

We already have a lock Dolphin - his name is Nate Myles.

Like it or not Braith is our 5/8 and at the moment that's what suits the team structure better than him playing elsewhere else.

He will only get better as he gains match fitness and learns how Carney fits into the playmaking mix.

He can wear a 6 and call himself a "five eighth" all he likes but the simple fact is Braith is most dangerous when he plays as a running lockforward who ball plays a bit

I am very happy with the position and role Braith plays at the moment.

I actually think his service has been very good, his defense outstanding.

His defense is great, only player not to miss a tackle in the Bulldogs game.
He doesn't stiffle any attack, his kicks may not been the greatest.

I think he needs to be a more ball running 5/8 than a ball playing 5/8, but he contributes a huge amount to the game.

Makes me laugh people refused to bag Fittler when his pass was crap or a kick was rubbish (and he had his fair share) and the hush was astounding when he went missing. But Anasta is not setting up 5 tries a game, he has to be cut
                      "Fittler can't pass"??? WTF?

Exactly. Apart from Andrew Johns I haven't seen a better long passing game.

Never said he could not pass, read the post again.

I said he had his fair share of ordinary ones, sure he threw some greats, but also threw a few duds in his time

No one is perfect and everyone is allow to make mistakes, but even you have to admit that towards the end of Fittlers career he was all quality, Braith on the other hand is still struggling with the producing quality touches when we needed. The two grubber kicks Braith put in on Friday was evidence of his inability to maintain composure and continue to put pressure on the opposition.

Braith's career is on the slide

He tries hard, but quite simply he doesn't deliver performances that justify his salary, and he never has

                              lock isn't the answer

                              England is

                              or maybe France

Fittler was a great player and I am not saying Anasta is as good as him, but for some reason he was immune from criticism.

2003/2004 GFs still hurt and if he was all quality the Roosters would have 3 premierships not 1.

I was dissappointed in those kicks as wellm and agree with Dolphin that he is a better running player than a ball player.
