From what I saw on the weekend, Todd is doing well in fullback.

He has the ability to hit the holes and chime in during attack.

But he is more potent in 5/8. As is Mini in Fullback.

    The only question is Anasta.

But having him at Lock would relieve the fitness strain of Myles. The game on Sunday had drink breaks at 20mins. I personally don't believe Myles can play a full 80 minutes effectively. But I hope I am wrong if he is selected at lock.

But you never know, Smith plan could be to switch Carney into 5/8, Mini at FB, Anasta to Lock in the 60th minute or so to take advantage of a tired defensive line and a fresh half to razzle dazzle them.

      I agree.

It also wouldnt surprise to see Maubs or Symonds used in the centres during that period and SKiDmark/Graham moving to the wing.

      The FlogPen .

      You know it makes sense.

It also removes Carney from the immediate defensive line
yeh there are definite merits to carney at 1. im not 100% for it.
but can u imagine our kicking options with carney at the back.
from what i remember from his days in canberra he had one of the biggest boots and recorded the most 40/20s i thought.

in the past few seasons, we scored most tries from attacking kicks. but our kicking for territory and to pin our opposition in their corners has been lacking. have 3 awesome kicking options would be such a luxury

I said we lose if we are chopping and changing. Ie. Mini to full back in attack, a center moves to the wing, Carney into a ball playing option.

We are down a center, and we get 2 5/8 and 1 half.

Why do all this when we can keep the structure simple and as effective.

An example: If you have a center moving into the wing, we lose a center. You can bank that most of your attacking plays will be directed to where the only center we have left. Its pretty much the same as 2008 kick to SKD hope he catches it. Once teams figured that out, how often did we win games then..

Pearce has improved on this quite a bit. His kicks finding the right peice of turf on Sunday showed promising signs.

Is this from Jason Taylor? lol..

Well I can only see positives not negatives in this situation
Both our centers have spent time on the wings.
At least one of our second rowers has spent time as a center.
Both second rowers are spending a lot of time running wide of the ruck.
Carneys roll coming into one side of the attack can be seen in two rolls one to draw the defense away for the side we are going to play down or to add attacking options down the side we are playing to.
With Mini as an additional attacking weapon.

              So only positives for me

Brian Smith coached teams are well known for having skillful players across the park and not relying on 1 or 2 players. I think you will see the overall skill base of our team improve considerably over the next 12 months. We won't be one-trick ponies whilst Smith is in charge and players will be able to handle multiple roles. Look at the Knights last year. There was one game there where Gidley was out through injury and they lost Mullen in the first 5 mins. They still went on to win because of the amount of work the team was doing at training on being able to handle multiple roles. I can see guys like the Aubbo's improving greatly under Smith. They're the types of player that Smith loves to get hold of....young, fit and eager. They will go ahead in leaps and bounds this season.

I love this post...Carney sure has electrified this site, and with good reason, I think we can keep the opposition guessing by being able to move players who are able to fill different roles, and Carney Mini and Perro are give us great options....did you all see how much Carney looked like Mini when scoring off that inside ball from Pearce?

Call me an old style fanatic but I don't like all the constant changing during the game. Leads to errors.

As for our kicking options, I still maintain that Pearce has one of the best long range kicking games in the Nrl. He was robbed of so many 40/20s last year either through bad bounce or fullbacks brilliance. Leave the positional kicks to him. Let Carney control the short range grubbers/bombs.

Carney has a great boot, lets hope they inspire each other. I really can see Pearce going to a whole new level with Carney there.

Totally agree with you on that one BigMike.I just cant see the point in swapping and changing players mid-game.It could also lead to a bit of confusion i think...and lets face it, these fellas dont seem to be the sharpest tools in the shed,i dont think it would be too hard to confuse a few of them.

So you are not a fan of the interchange system then because that is almost the same as moving the fullback into the attack as a playmaker!
All the game structure changes for the different player who comes on!!

Pearce and Carney to create the attack!
Mini to chime in from the back and run into holes!
Anasta to give us another attacking option from lock!

That is our best combination, everything else sounds too damn confusing.
Players shouldnt be chopping and changing during games, they should stick to the positions they start with..
                                How hard it it !?!
