2016 should be somewhat of a rebuilding stage, with many juniors coming through and new signings.

By 2017/8 the window could well be open again. If we keep our younger guys but retain the core we'll be alright.

Just to clarify though Jared's staying with us for 2015 regardless of whether he signs with Canberra or not?

Interspersed with some of rugby league's best youngsters and a couple of high quality recruits.

We saw this year that motivation is the most powerful indicator, behind talent I guess.

But that core has an abundance of talent and if they can maintain the hunger then I see no reason why we can't be contenders every year in the foreseeable future.

Perhaps. But I'd be staggered if we lost more than 3 of Jimmy, SKD, JWH and Toops.

On top of SBW, Mini and FPN that's a lot of cap space.

I suppose the issue however is in not paying overs. Just because we can then afford to re-sign the likes of Guerra and Napa doesn't mean we should pay overs to do so.

There's a reason the likes of Cronulla and Canberra are the least successful clubs in the NRL era. They poorly manage their cap by paying overs.

Don't ask the players questions about contracts and whether or not they're staying ...they could feel they have to make stuff up so as not to see supporters falling to the ground in tears at the members BBQ.

If JWH has been offered big bucks...big big bucks, for many years, and by accepting the Raiders' contract he can set himself up for life, then he can't really be blamed for accepting it...and leaving us.

The Canberra Raiders are closing in on their biggest recruitment target in years, with Sydney Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves spotted in Canberra on the weekend and weighing up a multi-year deal in the nation's capital.

Waerea-Hargreaves was seen at a restaurant on the Kingston Foreshore with his partner on Saturday night and it's understood the 25-year-old has been offered a significant deal from the Raiders that could be too good to refuse.

The New Zealand international still has a season to run on his contract at the Roosters , but an answer on the Raiders offer could come before Christmas.

Waerea-Hargreaves is in strong demand from NRL rivals, but the Raiders are leading the charge of clubs trying to pry him away from Bondi.

He would be very hard to replace in our team and our current roster and even mooted signings won't cut it.

A helluva signing for someone ( dragons need him most) or a great keep for us.

Who knows? @ the end of the day Teams like Storm and Manly have proven that you can win a comp with mostly average forwards[ with a splash of reps] and good backs... If the forwards play simple and do there jobs you can't beat a good backline.

Yeah well from memory , ricky was always a two trick pony. Apart from filling the team with backrowers/now front rowers, his other talent was constantly panicking and switching his halves after a couple of loses. He reminds me very much of some people on here who were barracking to have mitch Pearce replaced with Mark "killer" Kheirallah a couple of years ago.
