If it came down to Cordner or Merrin for similar prices though, we'd be seeing Sally surfing in Bondi more often.

For sure. A team like the Roosters, Souths or the Dogs could probably sign him for less than what the Dragons have offered him. Or otherwise he wants Ricky to pay overs for him to get him to the Raiders which his girlfriend would hate.

Trent Merrin has apparently turned down an offer from the dragons, thought to be worth 1.8 million over 3 years. It's reported to be due to demanding more cash.

Surely we won't be going after him then, imo Merrin is worth no more than 600k unless he turns into at least a 65 min player. Considering he only plays around 50 min at the dragons, especially after origin, he's not worth it I don't think. We're better off going after Taumalolo for around 150-200k cheaper, or if not use that money to keep the likes of RTS, Guerra, Jennings, JWH etc.

I'd rather a champion team over a team of champions, Trent is building just that.

My next door neighbours brothers wife's sister in-laws butcher said that he knows the girl at Wollongong Fossies & she told him that a guy who looked like Trent Merrin bought a pair of Easts socks so there could be something in this. I believe Merrin has already signed with the Roosters, I read it hear on the pen which is enough for me.

Merrin lacks size at 184cm and 103kg and hasn't been able to lead the Dragons pack when they needed him. I'd prefer JT and another big bopper forward on our books. If we do lose Hargreaves, Merrin is not an adequate replacement.
