    RTS will be the FB.

RTS will be a great FB.

Does anyone else remember the 2013 Sharks game? Where Roger tore them to bits throughout the game, whilst at FB.

That game showed to me that Roger at FB will be something special. He has what's needed to be a FB, his passing game is improving nicely, he has magic footwork, lightning acceleration, he's deceptively strong and with Mini being his mentor I have no doubt his positioning will be spot on. Not to mention the potency his kick returns could have.

I can't see any merit in the "not big enough to be FB" argument. There are only two FB's in the comp that I'd call 'big' (well one now). Both are freakishly talented and they use their size to their advantage, but Roger's agility and elusiveness more then makes up for it.

I can see Roger moving to 5/8 in a couple years; perhaps when Mitchell is coming through, but until then I feel we're in safe hands out the back.

Great post and totally agree with your post!

PMSL stupid at some of the arguments/ideas brought up by some.

I honestly think Moylan, Barba, Hoffman, Stewart, Slater, Milford, Michael Gorden, Michael Morgan even Tomkins and in years gone by Bowen and Minichiello circa mid 2000s have all made a reasonably successful fist of the fullback position in the NRL whilst not being large in stature. I even think the slightly built but athletically gifted David Mead if he remains injury free could become a very good fullback too.

Then the lame arguments offered that Milford, Barba and Moylan will be 5/8s one day...still doesn't change the fact that they have killed it at fullback at one stage or another in the past season or three.

Roger will be a great fullback you wait and see. You know it is the off season when you see some of the drivel being brought up such as you have to be big to be a f/b in the NRL, SKD for second-row, Dan Hunt for Roosters Prop wtf?? and Nene McDonald our Fullback next year etc, etc....keep it coming, it is great entertainment.

BTW GI was a fullback in his junior years and I think he may have debuted in first grade for the Storm as a fullback due to Slater being injured and killed it from day one. He was also the Queensland state cup player of the year after only playing half a season at Fullback in that comp as a teenager.

Fergo is an out and out centre at the moment and one day may become a fullback but I think most of his first grade experience has been on the wing and centre and no way he played as much junior rep fullback as Inglis...as he even did not take league seriously until a year or two debuting for Cronulla...apparently he was multi-talented across a number of sports including skateboarding if my memory serves me correct. I also just think Robbo won't give Blake first shot at the Fullback position, as Roger has been groomed for it in the past 2 seasons.

Nene showed me enough at Fullback in the 40 minutes against the Sharks and in the semi final 20s loss (I know he wasn't playing F/B in that game but his lack of urgency and not showing desire to compete that day told me and far more learned football judges than me he is not ready for a fulltime first grade gig), that he will spend the next season or two serving an apprenticeship in Wyong (possibly some F/b for Wyong) and possibly some first grade when injuries occur to the Roosters but on the wing.

Nene has all the talent in the world and could be anything, but atm he lacks the experience, urgency, confidence and composure to be a first grade fullback for a few seasons and Latrell Mitchell (if everything goes to plan) by then will be ready to step up. I think Nene will be destined to be a Wing or Centre at the Chooks.

Size is not the issue for RTS at fullback, speed is. I would love to see RTS in the off/pre season work with sprint guru Roger Fabri. You can see that SKD and Pearce have reaped the benefits of working with Fabri, and I want the same thing for RTS.

Extra speed is the key that will make RTS a much more lethal fullback.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

        Here's looking at you, kid.

I don't dispute that any of the guys mentioned have not played good football at FB but Barba & Milford have so far been 1 year wonders. Barba has never gotten back to the 2011 form & Milford was not that outstanding at Canberra. Both those 2 are Leo Denever players IMO.
Moylan on the other hand I believe will be instrumental for Penrith in trying to win the comp & will get better & be a quality FB or 5/8 but he still hasn't proved himself.
No you don't have to play Tests or SOO to have proved yourself but IMO what you need to show is longevity & the 3 mentioned havn't shown that yet. Tedesco IMO is another who is very good but he is still to prove himself.
Josh Dugan & Perrett have proved they can play FB at the NRL level.

If it hasn't already been said but fullback is like an extra 5/8th these days. Darren Lockyer was the first to exploit that.
