I think its great that the leader of our country took time out to acknowledge our own footy club legend.

The other great thing about Mr Abbott is that he is not Julia Gillard.

Obama has sent out an SOS to America's allies to help him and the USA fight the ISIS/IL butchers/barbarians...was it "Pure evil" Tony Abbott called them the other day when they beheaded another American journalist?

PM Abbott has responded in a measured way, sending our RAAF transport planes on humanitarian aid drops and to deliver weapons to the Kurds.
Exactly the right thing to do.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

At least Tony Abbott knows what rugby league is, unlike Krudd and the Red Witch.

            You are all eejits.

You do realise that the PM (whatever his or her party might be) is little more than a top-ranking, elected bureaucrat.

Anyone who shows deference to a country's "leader" has no self-respect. What's he done that's good? The old lady up the road who helps with infirm people does better things for society than some toff with an ego.

If he had just stuck to the topic and not blatantly cheered for his own team, I would have been perfectly fine with what Mr Abbott had to say. We all know he is a Manly fan...no need to shove that down our throats if the moment was to have been about Anthony. His speech needed editing.

Abbott's only been PM for '5 minutes'.

He said a lot of nice things about Mini and wished him well in life after footy.

For those of us who opposed the 2003 invasion, one of the things we warned against by removing Saddam in this way was that it would create a power vacuum and lead to civil war and the rise of militant Islam -- something that was never permitted to gain a foothold under the old regime.

So just remember, Abbott helped CAUSE this current Iraq mess in the first place. Like Howard, he should be in gaol for war crimes.

                          Disgusting piece of human slime.

He did have a say and he was very loud and outspoken on this not only to the Australian public but to the world at large He told us all we were going in to Iraq to find the stockpile of weapons of mass destruction that Saddam had and that we needed to follow the US into Iraq to free the poor Iraqi people from the tyranny of Saddam Hussein Many fools believed this garbage perhaps you were one of them But many also knew it was wrong and that the repercussions later on down the track that Tom has mentioned would be severe

LOL what a tool... as always, a shameless opportunist with NFI. 'Nuff said... those who voted for him and can now only justify his existence by saying 'he's better than Rudd and Gillard' are deluded.
