Kane Evans was MOM in that magnificent comeback win by the jets at the weekend. He ripped the panthers forward pack to pieces as he will do to a few NRL forward packs in the very near future in fact he has bent the line and never taken a backward step in all the occasions he has played in the top grade.Ill take Kane over Casty every day of the week.
Yeah, get shut of him. 27 tackles, no misses, one line break and a try.
Hopeless.
I actually agree a bit with the braniac on this one. Casty is not the front rower we are looking for. He rarely bends the line with his hitups and he doesn't make significant metres. Yeah sure, he may make tackles and score the odd try, but I'd much prefer Liu, Evans and Napa who can make strong hitups up front and push the odd offload .
Comment of the year:
Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,
"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

He is something special. That being said Trent takes his time with young players and gets them hungry for first grade. He is not one to hand out jerseys like flyers (ala Freddy Fitler).

Exactly KKK! Most of casty's tackles are as 2nd or 3rd man in, once all the hard work has been done. Watching him against the pamfers, when he made first contact in defense, the pamfers player was able to power through him making easy extra meters with casty barely hanging on before other Roosters defenders came in to do the job and finish the tackle. casty seems to be very weak when trying to tackle high. I can remember him being embarrassingly put on his arse when trying to make a tackle in the sharks game. And lets not forget how he was also totally embarrassed in that sharks game by allowing little halfback Robson to power his way through him to score the match winning try!!
Some people have very short and selective memories!
He is struggling with the speed of the game as compared to what he is used to back in the ESL.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

Haven't you noticed the structure that the coach goes with as yet mate???
He likes some taller rangy props like JWH and Napa and Liu and Evans.
Then he likes the shorter squarer props like Moa and Casty.
FPN and Guerra and Cordial cover the lock or third tight man role.
Maubs is the point of difference.
$BW is $BW.
Not everyone will get a run every week, that's why we have a squad.
Not everyone has the same role. Some are defenders, some roll with hit ups, some offer workrates, some offload, some just plug a hole for periods of games.
Where is YakBackandSack when you need him???
The more I see of Frenchy the more I like.
The more he gets bagged, especially by brainiac, and the more the coach picks him the more I like.
Come on Oracle. Watch that Robson try again without so much hate in your heart. If you do you'll see that it was everyone's favourite island in a Roosters jersey Sam Moa that over committed to sliding out across the face of Robson. And if you really want to analyse that defensive effort you'll see that FPN was a little slow off the line as A defender cos he covered the lead decoy close to the play the ball a little too long which meant Moa had to shift across more than desired and dictate the speed of the line. Unfortunately he over committed, Robson dummied and step inside him and even though Casty had made a good positive trail from B defender on the opposite side of the ruck, the defenders closer to the ball coming from marker in SKD (first marker) and Friend (on the line just to the left so technically A defender on the opposite side of the ruck) both failed to do a job on Robson. SKD trailed too deep because he was trying to shift back to his centre position and Friend was coming from a long way away (not as far as Casty) and missed a legs tackle 5m out. By the time Casty even got there Robson was right over the line and it would have taken a superhuman effort to stop him which he almost did.
While that is a lot of analysis for one try two weeks ago, my point is you seem to be a bit blinded by your strange hate towards Remi to actually come up with a reasonable argument as to why he shouldn't be in the team. While I love Kane Evans as a player I can guarantee you that given the same circumstances Kane would not have made it there to lay a hand on Robson and therefore probably wouldn't attract your criticism. Consider that for a second.
What makes you so sure Evans would not have laid a hand on Robson?Kane is bigger and a hell of a lot faster than Casty. Casty wouldn't see which way Evans went over a 100m Sprint.

Lateral movement especially in defence. Most often shorter players have faster feet.
Think RTS and DoubleSteamer as an example, the differenece in stride and footwork. Imagine that in the middle, reacting to a smaller man in Robson.
To what I've seen Evans has a bit of the Mose about him, not lazy just struggles laterally.
I definately understand why the coach doesn't seem to want to use both Napa and Evans at the same time.
Also Casty is a man. He has expierence on his side.
This whole thread highlights how differently people view our games mechanics.
Afterall our coach picks a frenchy so he has someone to converse with.

Great post Yak. Unfortunately, for a lot of people.......

Come on Yak, you are the "KING" of sugar coating things at times, and for me when it comes to casty, your sugar coating is sickeningly too sweet!!
I think you are way over analyzing things in this particular instance for when Robson scored the match winning try for the sharks, and it comes across as very desperate in your attempt to defend him.
Put extremely simply, both casty and SKD had a perfect opportunity to prevent little old Robson from powering his way through the both of them to score!! You could pour some of your sugar on there and I would accept it if it was someone like Vave, Tupou, Graham or Tagatese, someone who actually has some size and at least a bit of power about them, but come on please, it was little old Robson we are talking about! Stop with the excuses for casty, because when it came to the crunch, he was one of two who had a great opportunity at preventing that match winning try and he failed as he is not a very strong bloke!
Give me a break about guaranteeing me that Evans given the same circumstances would not have made it there to lay a hand on Robson, as that is total bullshit Yak. I have great respect for you mate and really enjoy reading your posts, but in this case you are way off the mark and there is no way you can guarantee me that at all! casty did not have to sprint a distance or something like you are trying to make out to get in the way of Robson. Robson ran virtually straight at him, as he had to go through casty to score. Evans has more mobility than casty for starters, and there is no way in hell that Robson would be able to overpower Evans like he did casty!!
Could you not see how casty was really struggling at times with his defense against the pamfers? This is what I said in an earlier post, "Most of casty's tackles are as 2nd or 3rd man in, once all the hard work has been done. And that is just his defense. His hit ups are powder puff stuff, he is very easily contained and doesn't bend the line at all. Evans gains much more ground with every hit up than what casty does. I believe if you asked every other forward in the comp if you would rather tackle Evans or casty, they would answer with no hesitation casty!! Also if you asked them who would you rather run at, they again without hesitation would answer casty!!
What it all boils down to is that I do not have hate for casty Yak, I just want the best 17 picked for the Roosters to give us the best possible chance for victory!
And I had to have a huge roflmfao off at grover's loins who couldn't get enough of lapping up that sugar coating over analysis excuse defense for casty you came up with Yak!!
Anyway, it's all good Yak.

So why doesn't the coach agree with you bOracle???
Is it cos he is friends with Frenchy still???
I heard this bloke called Kenny ring the radio yesterday arvo and he was an Easts fan and said the exact same shit you come out with, Reffs, SKiD, Casty etcetcetc.
