  • Trouble in the halves...

I'm told by a reliable source that one of our biggest problems right now is the fact that there is trouble in the halves. So the story goes, Pearce and Maloney have fallen out due to the ramifications of the "big night out" in Cloey/the Cross...

I think, if you objectively look at the way the team has played especially in recent weeks, you would have to say that the combination between Pearce and Maloney is nothing like what it was in 2012. The look of 'Rugby League enjoyment' also seems to have disappeared from the faces of these players in critical positions on the park...

Tonight was a game that could sum up our entire season so far. Dominant forward pack doing all the hard yards. Brilliant outside backs at the ready to do brilliant things and score points. Halves not creating opportunities and not stepping up ruthlessly and decisively at the right juncture...

I hope the story about the flow-on effects of the "big night out" are wrong. But the source from which I heard this is pretty reliable and isn't wrong often. This poses a real challenge for all those involved, especially the coach, who is aware of the issues and is attempting to fix them...

Here we go, an average game from Maloney and one bad play from Pearce and all of the sudden this rumour has surfaced. I think that, considering we have scored the most tries this year, their combination must be pretty good.

It's wrong how the knvies come out on here after a dud night or a dud play. Next week, if they put 40 past the sharks, they will be worldbeaters again

Unless they fix it... Yes, correct! Unfortunately it doesn't bode well for our chances in season 2014.

Of course this comes out after they both played terribly.

Surprised there was no mention of this when Pearce played his best game of the season vs Knights or after Maloney set up 7 tries in his last 3 games before tonight?

Difference is; the Sharks are garbage and Manly are premiership contenders?

Let's hope so. Next week is a great chance for the team to show what it has.

Putting 40 on Cronulla would be great and I, for one, would love to see a great game featuring a good combination between the halves...

Given our season so far, however, we haven't put on the massive scores (apart from against Parra early on) that we should have done as premiers.

                Over to the halves...

So what, you expect them to put 40 past manly?

And what about them winning like 7 of the last 9, their combination must be awful.....

Well said Josh. Also, there is a very real prospect the Sharks will give us a run for our money. They are improving while we have been stolid and staid all season.

Freddy inferred one of our halves was in some ways disinterested in the game He is a good enough judge for me to think there could be some substance to this one I know nothing but

I don't know about that. Maloney to me has a hell of a lot more natural footballing ability. Pearce is very robotic and predictable. Would you want Pearce to take over the goal kicking?
                          ...

Absolutely...the pair looked pretty tight celebrating our tries tonight.
