Fittler deserves it. Maybe not first up, but not having him there would be disgraceful. Hope Ricko and Fitzy are there one day as well - two of the greatest clubmen to play the game.

maybe they should look at having, for the first couple of years, 2 entrants to the hall of fame one pre WW2 and one Post WW2.

Fittler deserves to be there, yes that is true, but does he deserve to be there before the likes of Dally M, Dave Brown, Dick Dunn and Ferris Ashton???

              It's not a side

              Hugh McHahan = very overrated

              McGahan sentenced for pokie fraud
Former Kiwis rugby league captain Hugh McGahan has been sentenced to community work for his part in a $2 million pokie scam, which also involved former team-mate Brent Todd and former All Black Doug Rollerson.

McGahan pleaded guilty last month to four charges of conspiracy to use a document to defraud the North Harbour Rugby Union and Touch NZ.

Sentencing him in Auckland District Court to 275 hours community service, Judge Nicola Mathers told McGahan: "I am satisfied your offending has been brought home to you. I acknowledge you are remorseful."

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO), which brought the charges, had said the fraud was masterminded by business partners Brent Todd and Stanley Wijeyaratne, who operated a number of bars in Auckland associated with gaming trusts.

It involved an elaborate scheme of false invoices and accounts to defraud sports organisations out of hundreds of thousands of dollars from pokie proceeds.

Todd was sentenced to 12 months home detention and 190 hours community service after pleading guilty to four fraud charges, as did co-accused Wijeyaratne.

Todd had already paid back $300,000.

Wijeyaratne was fined $50,000 and told to make $400,000 reparations.

Rollerson was convicted and freed without penalty. He had earlier pleaded guilty to two charges of fraud.

Former Touch NZ chief executive Alistair Arnott, Geoffrey Thompson and a woman with name suppression have denied charges and will defend them at a six-week trial in Auckland District Court beginning in July.

Ron Coote was a brilliant player for us and arguably the best lock forward we ever had.
But the basis for these suggestions go deeper than that.
Coote played more games for Souths than he did for Easts.
McGahan was a good clubman and an honest hard working second rower.he'd be in the mix somewhere if the list was longer.

how can that possibly be determined? it can't really. so many differing factors- the position of the club, the team they played in, the time in the game etc etc

This should be about players who made the biggest impact.

                        1. Dave Brown 2. Arthur Beetson 3. Brad Fittler daylight the rest.

I would like to see Sid "Joe"Pearce get the first honour.
He won four premierships with our club in 1935,36,37,and 40.
He was instrumental playing in the second row in 36 and 37 in our clubs two year undefeated run.
He was talked of as the greatest player ever during this time...
