There must be a very small profit in a $99 membership for the club, the $149 membership gives you far more value whilst also being the best full entry level Season Ticket in the NRL. In my opinion anyway.

I can empathise with the club, balancing financial decisions and fan satisfaction is always going to be a pretty hard task & they're never going to win too many fans in doing it.

I think the criticism is a little harsh.

I buy the four game membership now. But are you saying that buying this membership doesn't count to that figure because I am not a season ticket holder?

Where you say that the $150 membership is our cheapest it sounds like anything below that doesn't count. I thought even the $40 membership counted, and there is no reason any supporter should have an excuse to not have that one.
I should've been more specific, full season ticket memberships is what I wast talking about.

All memberships except for pet memberships are counted under the 15,200 memberships we currently have.

You're right that they're thinking 'profit'. The Commercial dept has a paltry marketing budget - which is bloody stupid. They got me in to discuss consultation around ways to increase members at the beginning of last year, before suggesting contra for payment "as they have no money to spend". That's the mentality, and it's seriously amateurish.

Anyway, if the marketing budget was bigger (or better-utilised), they could use it to strategically subsidise Memberships and therefore create significant momentum that could see them retain larger numbers well into the future.

        It would totally work.

Given the club ditched the $99 GA memberships and have gone with the Bronze membership as their cheapest @ $149 I think any increase should be considered a success this year. Also remembering all memberships across the board saw a price hikes this year.

Key is making sure these numbers are sustainable and we can continue to grow year on year. When the club released their 5 year strategic plan at the beginning of last year 20,000 was the target they hoped to reach by 2017 so we're still doing very well for where we're at now.
Good post 6....yeah 17K was a more realistic figure with the price increase...and even then it is a stretch.

I remember there were thoughts given for the price increase on here...how it was considered good value still in this day and age....however after a few years I believe of $99 dollars. I believe they should have foregone the price rise this year as we are premiers and would cashed in on that @$99 and I reckon we could have given the 20K a shake.

With more members means you usually will sell more merchandise and the organisation would have had more revenue streaming in from merchandising. The increased revenue from merchandising and more members taking family and friends to the games would have made up for the lost revenue from their projections of not increasing the membership prices.

By putting up the prices by $50 it effectively own-goaled their aspirations to achieve 20K this year.

I see that working at suburban grounds with capacities of 20-25k, but not at a 42k capacity stadium where it is more than half empty for tje majority of games.. Like the old saying goes, better to have 20 people getting the $99 membership than 10 people getting the $150 one.

Is anyone checking the books of the other clubs to see if all their members are actually real and paying?

Here's an idea; Roosters fans could be a registered member for $5.00 and receive a nice plastic membership card.
$2 with a business card type membership card.
And get added to our membership list.

Supporter packs, tickets etc would be extra of course.

                  It's so simple isn't it.

The $99 GA membership should never have been axed.

People can't pay their electricity bills...it was not the time for massive price increases.
