On the eve of his departure for the Rugby League World Cup, the Sydney Roosters are pleased to announce that Sonny Bill Williams has pledged his commitment to the Roosters for season 2014.

The Club anticipates that Williams will officially sign in mid-February 2014 for the remainder of the season on the same terms and conditions as his 2013 contract.

In the meantime, the Roosters extend their best wishes for a successful campaign to Williams and the other Sydney Roosters players representing their country at the upcoming World Cup and will be making no further comment.

What a f%&$# week; I was lucky enough to watch the 1960 GF against Saints we loss, then in 1972 against Manly again we loss, let alone the numerous semis we loss leading up to that. I never thought I would be more excited, proud or elated after the 1974 and 1975 and even the 2002 GF win , but this year was so much more satisfying and nerve racking that I have experienced in all my years following the Roosters.

As a NZer I'm kinda disappointed that he'll probably won't have long enough as an AB to leave a solid legacy, but on the flipside at least he'll be remembered as a Rooster legend
