  • The Official - Post your whole GF day experience thread!

We did this back in 2002 on the wall and hopefully it becomes a bit of an institution. Tell us about your GF day in a few paragraphs. Please don't hijack the thread or feel the need to cut someone down. Victory is ours baby and here is the chance to share it amongst friends. I feel privileged to stand virtually side by side with ALL of you lot especially those i've known here for over a decade but never met.

The farian's day started pretty low key. Relaxed at home and soaked up the GF news on TV and on the pen. Was surprisingly calm given my previous experiences.
Family tidied up the decorations at the front of the house. We got ready and left the gong at around 4pm.
Passed many roosters cars on the way up the F6 and we shared our excitement by cheering each other along.
Arrived at the ground close to six and found our seats in aisle 114-1. That's when some nerves kicked in and suddenly i couldnt wait until the kick off.
Had to put up with a bunch of idiot manly supporters in particular that clown presenter from Big Brother and his dickhead dad. They didnt shut up throughout the whole match and continuously stirred trouble all game. I have no issue rival fans supporting their team or booing the opposition but these guys were over the top.
So imagine my delight when we hit the front and with 4mins to go I absolutely gave them a gobful! To which they retreated and made a hasty exit.
The final whistle went and my little son just hugged me no end and told me it was the best day of his life. At that point I bust into tears of happiness and cried like a baby. I can't describe what went on after that as it was quite emotional being with the family and surrounded by Roosters supporters.
After the players came around we headed off and drove to Bondi Junction. It was 1am before the balcony presentation finished. Thanked my family for not complaining about staying up as they were exhausted by the end of it.

Well what an unbelievable day. A day i'll never forget and hopefully this rant will live on and I can pull it up in ten years time to remember it all.

Over to you folks. Nothing is sacred in these walls.

Fantastic idea mate, shame about the big brother bloke.. can't stand that show and anyone associated with it on TV.

My day consisted of waking up early, straight into a Roosters jersey, jumped onto the couch and watched the Sunday footy show and saw Freddy talking us up.
Then when that finished, made my way to Bondi Junction before almost having a heat stroke while walking to the bus stop, and saw a kid in a jumper and pants on the bus which made me want to slap him. Made it to BJ and the support there was fantastic, went into a packed Roosters shop and everyone had that buzz about the day.
Headed to the stadium, walked around soaking up the atmosphere, took some photos with cheerleaders and TAB girls of course and headed in to watch the last bit of the NSW Cup and saw the NYC game, which was a pretty fantastic attacking game as per usual.
As they ended all the buzz was about the main game, when the Easts chants started in the pen, there was this one woman behind us who kept flipping us all off (not sure if anyone noticed this) and kept doing so throughout the night which was very annoying and disappointing.
The pre-match entertainment was great, a lot better than i thought it would be. Ricky Martin and Malbouy did very well i thought.
Finally when we came out, i was so nervous i was going to burst, especially when the anthem started.
A couple of my mates were losing it when we were down by 10 but i kept the faith and then the men stood up.
When the siren went it was an unbelievable feeling and felt honoured to be there. It was just fantastic. Walked down to the bottom of the pen and hugged a few of the boys.
I went back to Easts Leagues alone in the end but it didn't matter as i waited for our boys to arrive and the celebrations were fantastic. Jennings, Pearcey, JWH and Mini were all fantastic to listen to last night on top of the club. SBW was quiet but was clearly stoked as the rest of us were.

Had an amazing day/night/morning. Up the Chooks!
Rise Again. Represent 1908. Tick Tick Boom!

Caught the 11.58 am train from Gosford Station with my brother and my mate both Manly supportes, got off at Strathfield and went straight to the Strathfield pub for a couple of rounds, made our way to the Stadium around 3 pm had a couple more beers bumping into a few mates along the way. Had really good seats in bay 103 surrounded by both Roosters and Manly fans.. i looked behind me and saw a Roosters dad with 3 young kids dressed in netural clothing, so i decided just before kick off to go down to the supporters shop and buy them a large Roosters flag, the look on their faces when i gave it to them was priceless....Sunk around a dozen beers with the ups and downs the way the game was going..Full time i turned around to the little boy and gave him my Brand new Roosters cap......Got home around 12.30 am..

Drove into homebush at 1.30pm, I bought a $150 ticket, I was going to watch all three games.
On the Eastern side, in line with the dead ball line down the Manly end. Fortunately the majority of people around me were Roosters supporters, however there was one Manly fan a few rows back who made a racket rather then supportive noise, yet he was silenced late in the second half.
I stayed to soak it all in after the game, before heading off and getting home reasonably quickly. They do a good job out there.
Then proceeded to have a few drinks while I watched the replay and enjoyed the night.

          WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER

My brother in law (Heg the Rooster on here) and I got up at 3.30am Brisbane time and drove to Gold Coast airport for 6am flight. Probably about 10 other roosters on the flight with us, as well as a handful of sea vermin. We arrived in Sydney just after 8, losing an hour for Daylight savings. We made our way out to the leagues club and enjoyed having a look around and a cold drink before relieving the shop of half it's merchandise. We then made our way back to central station to go out to ANZ.

Once we dodged 10000 1Direction homosexual fans, and the odd depressed vermin fan we had a good feed from the food precinct (big shout out to the Snitzel kitchen and the sauerkraut sisters) and a few beers at the pub before going and watching the first two finals. How shit is Stewart Mills!!!! We lasted about 40 mins in the sun in row 10 before tossing that in for the shade.

We picked up tickets off a disgruntled Souffs fans, consequently we later found out we were beside 4 maggot Souffs fans. These poofs enjoyed ridiculing everyone from both teams before spending the last 15 minutes conserving their energy for what I believe was going to be a long trip home followed by endless gay sex with each other in a redfern soup-kitchen. From there we enjoyed the roller coaster ride with everybody else. Best time of my life and deserved premiers.

We went back to the leagues club and thoroughly enjoyed waiting in line to get into the club, managing to turn $50 on the pokies into $1,078 through one of those jackpot things-winner chicken dinner. We stayed until about 3.30am before going out to the airport via cab to catch our 6am flight. Beauty being we left sydney at 6.10, arrived at 6.15 because of daylight savings. I remember sitting down on the plane and putting my belt on, the next thing I know we were being prepared for descend-yep I was shattered. But best ****ing 24 hours ever!!!!!!

          THANKS ROOSTERS.

P.S. THE ROOSTERS FANS REPRESENTED BIG TIME. Well done guys!

The night before i set up the projector out the back and watched a movie with my family. Expecting a few friends and family for the GF.

2002 i spent GF day at the club, hmmm what a week. Nick is a distant relation and i was lucky enough to spend some time with the clan after the win. One of the best days of my life.

Yesterday was so different for me. Usually id plaster the house in Roosteranallia that ive gathered over the last 40 years and hype it up to no end.
I spent the day pretty much on my own (not anxious or nervous) and drank light beer in front of the tube watching the days games out the back at my bar. Just before guests arrived i grabbed my oldest NSWRL Easts flag and hung is on the wall at the bar. Thats it! no jersey, shorts just a pair of Roosters socks. I couldnt understand why i wasnt feeling it? As if something was wrong. I felt kind of lost.

Guests arrived, lots of yelling and cheering throughout the game but still im the only one thats composed. Even that last 30 seconds before the hooter, Why am i not jumping around? Why arnt i carrying on like a lunatic like i did for 3 days in 2002? I mean i was uncontrollable!
Anyway, just to go with the celebrations, i had a quite a few shots of various liqueurs while watching the boys celebrate after the game. Everyone left, a couple of cockadoodle-doo's as i cleaned up out back but nothing special.
I retired to the lounge room floor fairly drunk and fell asleep.

I wake up this morning and im on it! Think ive read and watched every article available on the Roosters. First beer at 9am an im on a binge i think for the day. Now im feeling it, and i want everyone to know, including the neighbors and passersby. The games continuously running and the theme song is on repeat and my wifes hating it!

            COCKADOODLE-DOOOOOOOO!

              What a day!

It's really started the day before. I got a phone call to say that none of the banners that I ordered would be made in time and that the company was sorry. ****en manly supporters!

I spent the rest of he day trying to organise banners from somewhere else but to no avail. Everyone I was going with said not to worry but I had my heart set on representing the roosters in that way on gf day....

While all were asleep I made a pact with the football gods to endeavor to make a banner. So the Sunday I went to work left early and spent the morning running around bondi junction gathering supplies. When I got home my mum brother and awesome girlfriend helped me with the banner and by help I mean did themselves under my direction as I only have the use of 1 arm being 5 weeks post shoulder reco.

After a few trips to bunnings we finished one rather large banner as the sheets I bought from spotlight turned out to be queen bed not singles, thanks mikayla lucky you are a roosters fan and it was an honest mistake.

Anyways after the banner was done we all quickly got ready and met back at my work where the 15 of us left for anz stadium together in a stretch hummer..... Upon arriving at anz stadium I was denied entry to the game due to the type and length of my poles. These were stored in the cloak room for my pick up post game.

So now i was inside the game with a banner I couldn't use. Unlike league fans of other teams I thought.... Quickly.... And asked some very sweet cleaning ladies if they could get me any type of object that could be used to hold a banner up. They scurried of and came back and told me to walk through some doors and that would be 2 broom handles unscrewed and left inside the doors... I thanked profusely, gather my new banner poles and as they say in the classics.....

The rest is history.... Go the mighty mighty Chookies

              Champions 2013!

I flew down from the Gold Coast on Saturday and spent the day in the city with a mate and my fiancé. On Sunday we went to Easts for lunch where I spilt gravy on my jersey. This was awful as every time I've split something on my jersey on game day this season we've lost the game.

Superstitions running high we headed out to ANZ and caught the end of the NSW Cup and watched a fairly decent Holden Cup match. The fact that the higher seed in both the NSW Cup and Holden Cup won also perked up my superstition senses.

It was about a trillion degrees in the stands but it cooled down before kickoff. As the boys ran out I just became overcome with nerves and my usual bravado and verbose chanting left me. I sat and watched the game in almost silence, pumping my fist when we scored. My fiancé was worried about me because usually I'm a raving idiot at the footy.

When Jennings went over that's when I lost it and started chanting and drinking in the moment. I was just so proud of the club, the boys but mostly just happy for Mini.

I didn't go back to then club but rather just spent a quite one back in the hotel room with the missus enjoying the win as we had a 7am flight back to the GC.

So the jersey that I spilt gravy on was supposed to be a bad omen but instead will never be washed again and worn for every grand final we make from here on out. Starting a new tradition!

Drove out to Homebush at 2pm with my brother (Player 1 on the Chookpen) and my almost 90 year old father (Jimmy on the Chookpen). Had a drink at the bar and watched the end of the NSW Cup. Missed most of the U20s as it got a little hot for Jimmy in our seats, exposed as they were to the setting sun.

We were rather a gloomy trio for most of the first half, but considered ourselves in a good position at halftime. At 18-8, I had that old sinking feeling, but my relatives remained optimistic. Joy unbounded ensued.

Waited for about an hour after the final siren before organising a wheelchair for Jimmy (the bludger) which was pushed by a lovely ANZ Stadium staffer all the way to the P1 parking station.

Player 1 and I then dropped dad off before going over to the Junction to honour our champions. Even bumped into Uncle Nick in the process.

I had a good sleep in, went clothes shopping for the wife before heading back to mothers place for a lay down in front of the tv to watch the NSW cup & half the Holden cup. My daughter & I got on a train about 5.30pm. Got to Homebush & have to say that the atmosphere around the place was amazing. Even better than the 1st SOO this year. Sat near some really nice Tongan blokes who supported a mixture of sides but wanted Sam Moa to smash everything in sight. Being at the northern end near all the Roosters supporters was so awe inspiring. Singing the songs.

Was even better that the finishing tackle was in the corner where we were. JWH was chest pumping in front of us.

Hung around to watch the boys do their lap of honour then went outside to pick up our Premiers shirt (which my cocky daughter had asked the girls if she could purchase before the game)

All in all it's a memory that i will never forget. Was on such a high I couldn't sleep until after we'd stopped at Hexham for coffee on Monday afternoon.

I was up to 6 am in the morning and eventually got to sleep, woke up about 5 hours later and went and bout my self a 6 pack and watched the NSW cup and U20's at home. Had a couple of bourbons before I headed of to Dapto leagues club at around 6. had to wait about 30 minutes for my mate to arrive before the few of us sat down and got comfortable. none of them roosters supporters. were we sat their were a lot of roosters supporters so I felt comfortable but wen it came down to about 10 minutes to kick off I was a nervous wreck. for 80 minutes I was cheering and swearing before the final whistle and I couldn't sit back down for the whole post game, the best night of my life
was born a sydney roosters fanatic

I wont go into all the details of my day, but i went with my brother, daughter & stepson, sitting near the chookpen, we've been going to roosters games together for many years now. To share the joy of a roosters GF victory like we did yesterday is something special & something i'll cherish & never forget.

Well I had a school reunion the night before so woke up very dusty on grand final day. Proceeded to lay about in the recliner watching the early games, had a bit of a snooze through the middle part of the NSW Cup and at half time in the 20's went to a mate's place with my wife. There was myself and three other mates, all Roosters supporters plus our partners. We sat and watched the rest of the 20's and the build up to the main game, tension building as the minutes ticked by. We rode the rollercoaster together, beating the drums and starting the 'Easts' chant every time we got points. At 18-8 one of my mates wrote us off, 'we're gone now!'. Ye of little faith! Needless to say the drums got quite a workout in the final 20 minutes and total euphoria gripped the place as 'TRY' was flashed up on the screen for Jennings clincher! We then went into party mode!

This Grand Final was dedicated to my kids who were 2 and one at the time when we last won it , now 12 and eleven respectively times a tough expense account not looking good.In comes a Souths mate to save the day .he takes us to a great 8 seater box half way line with all the spoils and close to the front.
Brain gets to ANZ and make a beeline for the Brewery cant go in because kids not allowed so goes across to the park where a public bar area for families was set up grabbed a limited table amongst the trees(shade) and sucked on about 10 cans and feeling good .Watched Brain Jr run around the park with other kids playing footy scored the winner and says it was dedicate dto SKD he said dad he will come good tonight I can feel it.
Off to the stadium and the free grog is too tempting drank heaps weird though havnt had a good drink in a long time didnt affect me much. Ran to bay 21 as thats where friends and wifey were sitting got a good look and cheer in at the players as they ran around the field with their spoils.
Wanted to go back to the club but caved in to m y back injury that was killing me -headed home after a million facebook messages his the sack and hit the SFS turf this morning with the kids.
For me it was for the kids the best I could for them . I told them next GF they can take themselves or push me around in a wheel chair...lol
I was fine and confident all week no anxiety attacks hehehe always new the last twenty would be ours .
Seeing the kids faces filled with joy made my day.
Had good company and good friends
