To be honest though, these permutations are fairly meaningless.
If you want to win a comp you just need to beat whoever is in front of you - relying on other results two weeks out from the semis is pretty defeatist!

Look I totally agree but I would prefer to play manly in the final as were are a better chance of getting a fair run of the green. I'm not denying that Melbourne and the vermin are good because they are but **** do they get help from the refs.
Now before everyone starts blowing up on here about me whinging about the refs and conspiracy theories etc i have watched and played rugby my whole life and very rarely do you complain about the level of officiating however watching league even when the roosters are not playing the referring is appalling.
Yes I agree to be the best you shouldn't care who you play but a bit of luck never hurt and nor would a favorable draw.
Robbo stated after the loss to the Titans that it is important that we recover our best form before we contest the finals. The team has not put together a good 80 minutes of football for over a month. He will not be resting players.
The main prize out of that little meaningless title is to play Melbourne in week one of the finals.
We should rest as many players as we can on Friday night. We have second spot wrapped up anyway if we lose.
Let the souffs mongs play Melbourne, and we can play the Sea Eagles, who I have much more confidence in our ability to beat.
Some of our key players look tired and need a week off to freshen up.
Furthermore, let it be known to all and sundry during the week that a number of Easts players our out with "niggling injuries". Thereby ensuring souffs don't get a massive crowd at the 'Bush.
All Easts supports can then comfortably stay home in the eastern suburbs, and save themselves for the first week of the finals back at Moore Park Road!
Easts to rest players this week! Yes, yes, yes more often.
I disagree with you on this one!
For me its not about the minor premiership, its about finding form! We have played terribly for the last month and need a really big game to get us back in the right mode. Our players need to prove next week that they are the real deal and can still go all the way.
We need to tough it out against Souths. Hopefully we can get a win, but even a close game with us losing will hopeully get us back into some form before finals!!
If we were playing well I would definitely rest players, but no one is playing well enough at the present to warrant a week off!!!!!!
