So if he's indeed gone, who do we spend that cash on? Upgrades for the guys we have? Or?

It feels to me that if he stays that's one thing, and if he goes then a rather large marquee signing must already be in the bag. It ain't Folau now, so all signs point to either Ferguson or Hopoate. Of course it could end up being a monumental oversight from Politis and Co. but I doubt it.Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

I too think he is gone, and, over the last month he has failed to make much impact at all, except give away a lot of silly penalties, get suspended, and throw some really great Finch style passes over everybody's head and into touch.
Iám not saying he hasent had some good games as well, but for the money he is one, and his current contribution to the team, we are behind the 8 ball. He just isn't injecting himself into the game enough.
I think not having a full pre season is now starting to tell on him, this game is a lot harder and faster then that silly bloody union game, his body isn't coping , and the only way I'd want to keep him for next season, is if he is prepared to do the hard stuff in the summer months, to get himself ready, forget the boxing, fighting that fat old south African, showed, he isn't a match for the big guns, he'd have to meet, to earn some good coin out of boxing, so punt that, and commit to our club, or else, sign for the touch footy union game, make ya 4 tackles a game, and maybe touch the ball 3 or 4 times, in a backline movement, if that's what you desire.

This is an article that could either show a lack of confidence in re-signing SBW or they are just abiding by SBW's wishes to keep it quiet until the league season is done.
Here is an excerpt from another article that indicates SBW is enjoying his time here. It is from Robbo who seems to tell it like it is so I'd say its true:
"[Recently] he talked to a lot of us around here about how much more involved he is and invested in the club. How much more he enjoys spending time with the guys around the place. That's all we want and all we can hope for.
