  • return of saturday afternoon football

apparently when the NRL releases the scheduling for the final 6 weeks of the season today it will include the return of the 3pm match on Saturday afternoon, will be interesting which timeslot gets to boot to fit in the Saturday afternoon match.

I absolutely love the idea of bringing back Saturday arvo footy again!! If I had my way it would be brought back permanently and at the expense of Monday night footy, and they should have either the Saturday arvo game or one of the Saturday night games be shown on free to air as well! Bring back Warren Boland to commentate the Saturday arvo game would be a really nice nostalgic touch to go with it!

It will be very interesting to see the scheduling for these last 6 rounds, as you can bet that they will try and squeeze in even more 5 day short turnarounds between games for us as they can to screw us over as much as possible. Also as sure as hell you can bet they will continue to help out the bull$cumdog$hit as much as possible with giving them as many Friday night games as they can so that they will continue to get a full 7 day rest period between games and come up against as many teams as possible coming off a short 5 day turnaround to take advantage of ! Guaranteed that $ouff$ will also be looked after with the scheduling in the lead up to the finals, to go along with the help they always receive from the refs!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

              Here's looking at you, kid.

I'm far from old and I loved the Saturday arvo games.

Warren Boland was a good commentator too...

I think one of the 730 matches on the Saturday will get the chop All games live no red button needed

I loved Saturday afternoon games as well, my only concern atm is that times have changed since it was a regular feature. No longer are people or industries are working 5 or 5 and half days, which helped in attracting decent crowds to these fixtures.
These days many industries whether be it in the retail, tradies or other occupations usually work on Saturdays therefore we might see less than anticipated crowds to these games at the 3pm time slot.
Great for nostalgia however lesser clubs that haven't negotiated big money deals with larger grounds no matter what the crowd numbers are need the cash that goes with the gate takings.

                      Monday night football blows.

                      Particularly if you go.

I get home not knowing which way is up.

Short turn around from Titans to Souths Round 25-26. That game is going to really see how far the side has come since round 1.

Only one prob with the Sat arvo games...a lot of league people love the races ...esp easts types...and it causes worlds to collide.

That said...any day game beats a night game.
