There was better news for five-eighth Maloney, who is expected to miss just over a week after suffering a small fracture underneath his left eye.
"It's not displaced which is a good thing," he told reporters.
"It's almost definite (I'll be right). It's just a small crack and in seven to 10 days it's healed (the doctors) said."
"I think I got a poke in the eye real early and didn't think much of it and then at the end of the game I was clearing my nose and it just blew up.
"It might be a blessing I don't play this week...I can refresh the body and make sure I'm ready to go for game three."
When did the above change?

Injury Update - Origin Trio
Thursday 27 June 2013 6:00 PM
James Maloney
James suffered a facial injury playing for the NSW Blues in Wednesday night’s State of Origin match.
CT scans have today revealed that James has a fractured eye socket, ruling him out of Monday night’s Round 16 clash with the Sea Eagles at Allianz Stadium.
James will meet with a specialist tomorrow (Friday) to determine the full extent of the injury and rehabilitation time.
A replacement for James in Monday night’s squad will be confirmed on match day (1 July).
Fellow Blues team mates Michael Jennings and Mitchell Pearce have also reported to Roosters HQ today, following Game II, and will take their place after being named in the side to face Manly by coach Trent Robinson last Tuesday.Originally posted by turk-283Kurt 79 - Kags 0..

Gee it's annoying for club supporters to read their players will miss their club game ...but will be ok for next SOO game.
Tiger supporters would've been pissed with Farah missing club games but right for SOO2. Gallen has said he will miss next 2 Shark's game ...but should be right for SOO3. Now Maloney, I'll be missing next 1 or 2 club games ...to make sure I'm right for SOO3

I can understand why Maloney said this to reporters ""It might be a blessing I don't play this week...I can refresh the body and make sure I'm ready to go for game three.", but I hate hearing a Roosters contracted player stating its a blessing they are missing a Roosters match so they can be right for state of origin.
