Iam not sure about that though. The forward pack is not great and the back line is lacking class outside maybe McDonald. Moga's return could be the x-factor they need however Canberra are a class ahead and Mitch Cornish is even better albeit a year older than Tyler.

Watched the game and I have to say I Tyler Cornish played very well and appears to have something Pearce doesnt have.....composure. Having said that the standard of a 20s game is light years behind FG.

It's not "politically correct", so to speak, to bag the halfback at Easts, but I have been disappointed for a long time with the form of Pearce. The lack of repeat sets over many years has frustrated the hell out of me and my posse of Bay 13 Roosters!

No matter how many top-shelf players Nick keeps putting out on the field, the team will struggle until we have a halfback who can stand up and DOMINATE premiership club games, let alone representative games.

Pearce might be a handy five-eighth or could even bulk up a bit and be one of the game's better lock-forwards, but when it comes to the most critical position on the field, I'm sorry, he is not cutting the mustard!!

Maybe a position swap between Pearce and Maloney is in order, with Maloney given the authority to be the main playmaker in the side... Just a thought? Jimmy has been in top form all year.

Anyway, forget about the Bronte tap water, after a month off the sauce I'm certainly hitting something a little stronger this evening after that ordinary effort!
Good post but i think we both know that barring a tragic early death, Mitch will be wearing the 7 for the next 25 years at least.

Pearce was better than Maloney tonight...

                Just quietly.

Too close to call so im gonna go with Tweedledee and Tweedledum, both their performances were criminal.

Our repeat sets seem to come from luck or a chip kick that isn't good enough to be a scoring opportunity but isn't bad enough to be caught in goal
We've got SKD for grubbers now

Ridiculous short-side play on the last for Vatuvai's try notwithstanding, Pearce was pretty good, I thought.

Put Moa through that gap for Mini's try, put SBW through for his try and got at least one repeat set (lovely left foot grubber).

Maloney was solid making a lot of crucial tackles and probing-around until he started panicking with stupid short kick-offs, etc.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...
