I don't understand why everyone raps Moga? He looked disinterested and lazy. Jack whighton is a young footballer with grit. That's who I would want. Moga is no sheck. Sheck is a footballer Moga an athlete. Big difference
What is Michael Jennings then? Cos he's doing a pretty good job. Sure Jack Wighton is a very good young player but he's not leaving Canberra. Once Moga is back at full health and has had some game time to become accustomed with TR's system he will flourish and you'll see that he is actually quite the footballer. In attack last year i thought he did some special things with limited opportunites. His defence lacked attitude. With Smith long gone and now being coached by a bloke that understands how to manage young players I have no doubt that will change. The way i see it Robbo was able to make SKD adequate in defence, at times solid. That is some feat. He has also turned Jennings into one of the best defensive centres in the game with 10 rounds. TR has set up our defence so that predominantly what is required from the outside backs is line speed, lateral speed and strength. Some might consider that a "reactive" defensive structure but its a simple philosophy of being willing to concede ground out wide as a compromise for no line breaks and a staggered defensive line. And when you look at Moga he has bucketloads of lateral speed and strength. Line speed is all attitude and concentration. Hopefully TR has already instilled that into him while he's been
off.
Hallelujah if it's true. His defense has improved, but it is still woeful. Any improvement would be better than what he has been dishing up lately. His attack is busted, that is for sure. He runs like he is wearing concrete boots.
A move to Cronulla would suit SKD. The way he is playing is a long way from manly.
Personally I rate Maubs as high as $BW when it comes to defence.
I think here's a kid who has come thru 5 different coaches in 7 seasons, playing often with SKiDmark outside him either as back row/centre or centre/wing combos, and still managed to retain his spot and look after the men around him.
Now he's been switched to the left and has not missed a beat.
IMO he'd have no worries working with SKiD again especially in defence.
I recall earlier this season Brainmeister blamed Maubs for SKiDs poor attack. I think even he'd admit now Maubs can play a bit.
What about the irony. Many had Maubs in SKiDs position, either Pootown or Siberia, before a ball had been kicked this season. Now those same people are suggesting Maubs take his place.
I love The Rational Chookpen.
hahhaah Im a maubs fan from way back but the one thing is he is a competant player nothing more. Too slow for center too small to be running in the rucks all though he tries at best he is a fringe ruck player.....we use as best as we can earlier in the season he was running very far right and SKD was getting no ball ..., but alas teh SKD of old would be spewing but looking at the modern day SKD I can see why.
Its a case of how many running backrowers do you need? Best example is souffs believe it or not big boys with a decent turn of pace hence their possie on the table
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe
Its amusing that everyone is placing their faith in Moga, a worse defender by far than ANY player thats taken the field for the Roosters this year.
SKD has improved his defense by a long way and in all truth the whole team has a million miles to go in attack before they are where they want to be.
I have faith in TR
I do too.
But SKD had one of the worst defensive reads of the season last match when he let in that nielsen try and opened up that huge gap. His defensive reads are woeful, so bad in fact that he needs to score a try a match almost to be on par with his mistakes. All this while he is playing outside of a bloke called SBW.
There is definitely something wrong with his game and he needs time out to fix it up.
Comment of the year:
Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,
"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

Thought we played Storm last game, not the Warriors....or maybe thats why he made the bad read....he thought it was going to be the Warriors and it turned out it was the Storm!

I missed that try. Can you guys tell me or load a clip of what happened at all?
I had the same thoughts. I think a poll is in order to see who will become the new Chookpen whipping boy if SKD goes to the bridesmaids.
I'm thinking the heir apparent would be Marty Kennedy ...seems that he has made big inroads this season.
If SKD does go, MK could be joing that illustrious club which includes such alumni as Dallas Hood, Brett Finch, Chris Walker, Braith Anasta, and contempories SKD & Minichiello !
