    Gidday Hurricane.

Yes I did. played against Ken Jones, United, Reinberger, Sharks, Des O'Reilly was playing for United then.
Grant Hedger, United, Craig Fields old man Mick, played for Colts, Gary Warneke, Colts, Herbie Hardaker Colts,
Jack Bosdens Father Wayne played a for Paddo Woolahra RSL with my younger brother.
That's all I remember getting to old. RSL had a few good players, the Archer twins, the younger brother of Chicka Moore played in my team, our full back Des (cant remember his last name) was graded with Easts but was very injury prone.

Nice work...few decent names there...Herbie Hardaker...I assume that's Gary? If so I played against his son Shannan who also played for Colts. Freakishly talented player and got some lower grade time for Easts in the early 90's but wasn't committed.

The only other players of note I played against (other than Colin Ward) was Brett Gillard (United) and David Webber (Cloey) who played a few games (maybe 15 all up) for Souffs and St George. Also Steve Georgialas' brother who completeky f**ed my shoulder.

I think Gary and Herbie (Brian???) are brothers but they have a cousin who played at Easts, that's what the old man remembers but the carnt is old now.

I played a grade or 2 below you mate. Wasn't Awful Orford in or about that age???

Craig Field and Jimmy Dymock played for Colts in my age, Shane Wilson (Rams) played for Souffs and Illawarra for a few years as a kid, Ian Rubin played for United for a season or two C or B grade, he was massive even then.

Ricko was a grade lower. Fletch a couple lower with Frank Napoli (Colts and Warriors) who was graded with Easts and played at the GC and in SL.

I don't think there were many more who played 1st grade till Crossy, but I could be wrong there.

As for Waverly Oval, weren't they the days...the 1985 A grade GF in particular will live long in the memory.
Was that when the bikies turned up and parked on the grass outside the oval and watched Coogee Bay the GF???

That's was a funny day, the grandstand was silent full of United fans from memory???

I remember Colin Ward coming back from injury at Waverley Oval. Geez he copped some strong defence. Angelo Dymock was playing in that game. They reckon he was more talented than his younger brother just didn't want to go through the grind.

I'm sure stsae might be able to give us some old Waverley Oval stories.
I can tell you that cricket pitch after rain and sun was a carnt to play on, fark me it was a rock literally, removed some bark.

And the outer was full of potholes which claimed my ankle ligaments more than once.

But overall the memories were fun. Even had a few nights in that grandstand.

Scored a try in the corner on that ground for my school. Skinned myself something chronic. T'was like concrete.

Yeah they were all younger than me including Orford.

I actually knew Frank Napoli quite well for a while there, but mainly through touch footy where I got to know a few of the Wolloomolloo boys. Think he lives in Italy now after playing union there and meeting an Italian Mrs (who was apparently sensational btw).

Haha...don't remember the bikies, but one thing about the United fans was they they were literally in tears when it looked like they were going to lose. So parochial.

I remember wandering down to Burroughs Parks on the odd Sunday Arvo ( lived at Bronte) and seeing the same passion of the Cloey locals. So different now.

Would be interested to know who was playing for Clovelly back then, if you can remember let me know

Nah Rose Bay Rams actually. They played a very fiery C grade GF against United that year (1989) and lost a very tight game.

Sorry to be so slow responding, don't get on as much as I used to.
I don't remember to many names nowdays. I do recall the two props, Monk and Gus big bastards they were, the buried my head into the pitch at Waverley oval, I've still got the scars. The rest is a blur.

I remember when Double Bay, Rose Bay etc played A Grade in the Easts comp in the 80s.

Was a bloody strong comp then. I'm sure others on here would remember the days when Waverley Oval was packed on a Sunday arvo.
