I thought Luke carved us behind a big forward pack. They definitely won the ruck.

I can't judge attack when playing behind such a beaten pack. Reserve judgement until possession and field position are a bit more even.

When he goes ordinary this year the gloves are off..

And he was not the worst tonight, but he was ordinary..

We've got a good side on paper this year,so when they under perform i'm not sugar coating anything..

This is a massive year for Pearce..

He needs to do more than have acceptable stats..If you were fair dinkum with yourself you would realise this..
I have not commented on Mitchell Pearce's performance other than to defend him from the witch hunt as I understand that there is not much that a half can do when he is constantly defending and his team mates are ill disciplined and hand the ball over cheaply.

That thread was about souffs are rubbish, not about them winning a premiership mate (although they seem closer than us for a premiership). To call Sam Burgess, Issac luke, Merrett, Reynolds rubbish just shows a complete bias or lack of understanding of the game.

But to be fair, you did call the Tigpies rubbish early last yr so you can't be the worst judge.

So you feel he should escape criticism??..

When they play poor they get a bagging..

I want Pearce to improve his short kicking game,& composure under pressure..

As i have done for a few seasons now,but i was giving him the benefit of the doubt..

He is a team leader now..He needs to play like one..

I do not believe he played poorly I believe he was unable to make his mark on the game due to the circumstances of our dumb football on the night.

By all means criticise the man when he deserves it as that is only fair. If we had the territory and possession that South Sydney were provided and he played poorly I would join in the criticism but our discipline was terrible and there is not much he could have done to save our team.

No player is above criticism but Mitchell Pearce should not be tonight's scapegoat.

Pearce did not do to much wrong tonight, sure he did not take full control but other then that he did his job, Friend on the other hand, I have never ever seen what all the fuss is about with him.

Next time we play them which is rd26 we'll see how good they are. They have a few good players but they also have a lot of duds.

You are a very easy marker..

                    The team got pumped tonight..

Pearce needed to find a way to impose his will on the result..He failed..

And his defence was below average tonight..

Again i'll repeat it for you..He was not the worst player out there tonight..

But he was supposed to be one of the best..

Whether Pearce is the scapegoat or not is not your decision..

I couldn't agree more, it was no coincidence that we looked a lot sharper when Mortimer was in at dummy half. He is constantly taking the wrong option, and just doesn't have "vision" like the best hookers do, he might improve but I just can't see it.

Same goes for SKD who refuses to use his shoulders to tackle, can't catch a ball and appears to be completely clueless. He hasn't played a decent string of games since 2010, once again he may come good, bnut I am just not seeing it.

If all of the team played with the same intensity and desire as JWH we would be world beaters, the guy is a dead set champion. I though Sam Moa went pretty well as well tonight. As for Marty "butter ball" Kennedy he needs to start taking his angry pills and start running hard at the defence.

i was at the game. i thought a lot of the time whenever friend threw a pass to pearce it was slow and for pearce he threw a lot of lolli pos too. just one bad pass after another around the ruck slow passing shallow running forwards didnt work we played right into the vermins hands

                          Pearce and Friend are ordinary.

Don't let your loyalty to individuals overwhelm your loyalty to the club...

We can stack the club with superstar backs (like MJ) and global hero forwards (like SBW)...

But we won't win a comp with Friend and Pearce as the 9 and 7 respectively.

Pains me to say it, but I am being honest.

The best thing to do, to set the change in motion, is move Pearce to 9, drop Friend altogether, move Maloney to 7 and consider our options for 6... for season 2014.

Also, it's time to start thinking about "moving on" some other players who have been, alongside Pearce, mainstays in the underperforming seasons since 2007.

SKD, Kennedy, FPN, Friend, Pearce... clean them out... of course Mini is well past his use-by date as well.

Historically speaking, the biggest revolutions happened at Easts under Jack Gibson and Gus Gould. Both cleaned out as many players as they could from previous eras, and rebuilt entirely new teams.

This Roosters team cannot keep going on with the same failed players from the 2007-12 era.

Build a new team involving Maloney, RTS, Jennings, SBW, JWH, Cordner, Guerra... Mitch Aubusson is one of the few I would keep from the previous era.

Tonight we found at that we won't win a comp with Pearce at halfback and Friend at hooker.

You're onto it Edge, based on a Round 1 match we should start rebuilding our side that we've just re-built.

I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad.

Can someone explain to me, why their second try was allowed, when big roy stood next to the play the ball and deliberately and blatantly stepped across to get in the defenders way. It probably didn't affect the play that much but shouldn't obstruction be obstruction and not only called when deemed necessary. To then call obstruction on JWH (which was fair) when Jennings made a half break then got my blood boiling.
