What is Mitchell Pearce supposed to do when we find ourselves inside our own 40 on the last tackle? We were dominated in the middle after Hargreaves and Moa were rested and the lack of respect for the ball and silly penalties brought a mountain of pressure on us which eventually crumbled our team. We were on the backfoot all night after the penalty on Greg Inglis in his in goal line.

One of the main reasons we were continually under pressure was because Friend kept giving away stupid penalties. Pearce and Friend are liabilities to this team and until they are replaced with better players we'll continue to be a middle of the road team.

The team is his..
He is supposed to control the game..
With the limited ball we had tonight he was poor..
We may have been out muscled, but Pearce was out thought..
Again..

When we had the ball we opened them up more times than they did.
The game changed when our bench forwards came on.

The game I watched we were absolutely dominated up the middle of the field (Souffs made 400 more metres)
We struggled to gain field position through poor discipline; errors & penalties (5 more penalties than Souffs & a 61% completion rate)
Pearce was very good when playing direct and his combination with Maubs is back in full swing (Pearce - 3 Linebreak Assits, Souffs whole team - 3 linebreaks assists).
The game really isn't that hard to understand, we need field position. That is gained by controlling the ball and making the hard yards up the middle, everything else comes on the back off that.

This isn't a one night thing with Pearce..
When we were attacking he played without composure..
He nearly blew the Maloney try through poor pass selection..we were lucky the rebound found Maloney..
Pearce wasn't the worst player out there..The problem is he plays in the most important position so he needs to be one of the best more times than not..
What is absurd is people defending him when he got a bath off a player with 1/4 of his experience..
He needs to learn how to control games..
But keep the rose coloured glasses on..
My eyes are wide open..

A half back can't dominate with 40% possession and 10 penalties against. We had great field position 3 or 4 times all game scored twice and made early errors twice. Even with the hiding we received I still think we looked 50 times better than the side last year and showed plenty of potential. Let's be realistic ... new coach, new squad ... it will take time to gel. As much as I hate Souths they are a top 4 side. Don't jump to conclusions just yet .. let's evaluate a month in!
Up the mighty Roosters!
