Friend's biggest problem is he is a 50 minute player who is consistently asked to play 60-70 mins. The last 15 mins of the first half he was spent, and started making errors in attack (2 short nothing balls to Arona and Kennedy - who dropped it - in a row instead of feeding it to the backline).

If they'd hook him after 25 mins each half he'd be a much better player

Reynolds got so many more opportunities then Pearce to just get the ball 10 metres out from the tryline and dribble a grubber through, whereas Pearce had to kick from 30 metres out at best most of the time.

This isn't a one night thing with Pearce..

When we were attacking he played without composure..

He nearly blew the Maloney try through poor pass selection..we were lucky the rebound found Maloney..

Pearce wasn't the worst player out there..The problem is he plays in the most important position so he needs to be one of the best more times than not..

What is absurd is people defending him when he got a bath off a player with 1/4 of his experience..

He needs to learn how to control games..

But keep the rose coloured glasses on..

        My eyes are wide open..
Michael Jennings blew a certain try when we may well have been able to mount a comeback.

Roger Tuivasa Sheck and Shaun Kenny Dowall were at fault for multiple tries conceded.

Again, I ask you what exactly Mitchell Pearce is supposed to do when our competion rate is appalling low and we are giving away penalties?

Your eyes may be wide open but you're not watching.

We were competitive in every stat except penalties and possession (which are intrinsically linked). The game flowed for more than 5 mins without a penalty 3 times tonight. Once was at the start of the game, the second time was around the 50 minute mark, the third was at the end. At the start and end we scored our 2 tries and around the 50 minute mark we mounted the comeback and were unlucky to not grab a couple of tries.

The one time we did put pressure on Reynolds and our forward pack didn't allow them to move, he kicked it right out on the full. Yet people expect Pearce to have an impact when our forwards were never in it after that

I also find the Reynolds hype annoying. He is a bloody specialist kicker... Does nothing but kick kick kick kick kick. Will do nothing for NSW if picked. It's easy to get skilled at something when it's the only thing you have to do in the team.

While I don't blame Pearce for tonight, it wouldn't matter if he was 1m out. He is simply incapable of earning a repeat set.

For one, his short kicking game is terrible (goes in the air all the time and the few grubbers he tries per season usually just go straight at the fullback like they were laser guided).

And second, he never even thinks to attempt one. It's like he doesn't know the line dropout rule exists or something as he only ever goes for points on the last, even if nothing is on. Has no idea how to build pressure and control a game

I thought one of our wingers struggled defensively tonight

He is supposed to get us repeat sets..

You know, all the things that a guy with 1/4 of the experience did tonight..

Mate do you understand the role of a halfback??..or are you just geeing up??..

We need to discuss your "Souths are Rubbish" thread Ray because even with a poor hooker and an average half how do you explain an 18 pt loss to a rubbish team.

80 odd metres, 25 tackles, 2 line breaks, I think he had a pretty solid game if you ask me.

How is Mitchell Pearce supposed to gain repeat sets when were constantly defending much less from inside his own half?

The guy with 1/4 of the experience kicked out on the full and found one of our backs on the full for what seemed to be every single time that the kick did not go dead.

You are looking for a scapegoat because if you were fair dinkum with yourself you would know that completing sets at around 60%, conceding too many penalties and having far less possession was the reason for our loss.

I stand by what I said. If anyone thinks souffs are going to win a premiership anytime soon then they are kidding themselves. Take Inglis out of that team and they are ordinary. Inglis would make any team look good.

The reason he got found out in the all stars team

You are going on like Pearce had a 10 out of 10 game..

I've constantly defended him in the past..

When he goes ordinary this year the gloves are off..

And he was not the worst tonight, but he was ordinary..

We've got a good side on paper this year,so when they under perform i'm not sugar coating anything..

This is a massive year for Pearce..

He needs to do more than have acceptable stats..If you were fair dinkum with yourself you would realise this..
