I was at the game and I thought our weak spot was our forwards they could fight their way out of a paper bag. Reynolds showed his worth in the all stars game imo!

what game were you watching? he created our first try with a great kick. did not find inglis on the full once all night (reynolds kicked every long kick straight to mini). We didnt have the ball I dont know how you can judge. Friend still conceded too many penalties but looks fitter and sharper. Still makes some poor decisions. Its round 1 ffs. We were competitive in every stat except penalties and possession (which are intrinsically linked). The game flowed for more than 5 mins without a penalty 3 times tonight. Once was at the start of the game, the second time was around the 50 minute mark, the third was at the end. At the start and end we scored our 2 tries and around the 50 minute mark we mounted the comeback and were unlucky to not grab a couple of tries.

our lack of go forward is more of a problem at the moment, souths ran for and extra 450m had an extra 50 hitups and made 70 less tackles, no halves can dominate in the face of those numbers.

you can't have a forward pack rotation with Arona/Maubs/Guerra in it, not enough size/power, they were getting dominated in both attack and defense.

I will be interested to see how we go with Cordner/Tasi/O'Donnell back in the team.

Baaah..I'm all over him if he doesn't perform this year..He's got the cattle, now it's time for him to prove himself..

Tonight he was ordinary in atttack & defence..and his kicking was just plain shit..couldn't hit the in goal area if it was 100m wide & long..

I've defended him while he was supposedly learning his craft..He has to perform this year..

            Tonight wasn't a good start..

We'll be much better with Cordner, Tasi and O'Donnell but it still doesn't hide the fact that Friend is a liability and Pearce is clueless.

I was watching the same game as you..just without the rose coloured glasses..

I'm not defending him after shit performances anymore..

He almost blew the Maloney try by poor pass selection..

At least JWH and Moa made over 100m each.

I don't hate the guy, but jeez how long is it going to take him to learn to try to get repeat sets so we can mount pressure, it just doesn't seem to enter the guys head.

We all saw how much Pressure souffs were putting on us through Reynolds kicking for repeat sets, everyone except useless Pearce.

He had 2 kicks I think inside there 30 all night. One cross field that SKD nearly scored off and one grubbed that got us a repeat set after Souths played at it. His kick that got Inglis tackled in goal only for friend to be offside was a perfectly weighted kick

Friend plays tough, but not smart - Left side has to be the go to side in attack . Morts goes there late and we score , was watching Pearce setting to attack left earlier through the night and Friend went away from him each time. SKD has to learn not to turn his back when trying to "attempt a tackle" deadset unco . Souths were bigger and stronger we did contain them but the urgency to support and reset the line was not there. Kennedy proved he is a cream puff , must earn the right before he dishes out verbally on opposition.RTS has a lot to learn at wing , by all accounts best postition FB .

we looked good while they were belting up the middle.

Pearce's problems with his kicking are starting to make me worry that he'll never improve..

He may not have had many chances at the repeat set tonight, but he has struggled with them his whole career..

Must have watched a different game to you tonight Ray.

The game I watched we were absolutely dominated up the middle of the field (Souffs made 400 more metres)

We struggled to gain field position through poor discipline; errors & penalties (5 more penalties than Souffs & a 61% completion rate)

Pearce was very good when playing direct and his combination with Maubs is back in full swing (Pearce - 3 Linebreak Assits, Souffs whole team - 3 linebreaks assists).

The game really isn't that hard to understand, we need field position. That is gained by controlling the ball and making the hard yards up the middle, everything else comes on the back off that.
