Funny thing is Luckyman didn't pick my 'cougar' call earlier either!

My guess was 23, close enough?

I hope they all turn out to be champs because otherwise we're in trouble. Last night was just another example of why FPN, Morbs, Freind, SKD, Hauraki etc etc are just not good enough, ad to that Fitzy and Mini who's best are far gone and it's no wonder
why we are where we are. As I said I really hope the new buys turn out to be good otherwise 2010 will be just as bad. One thing I'm really happy about is that huge slug Soliola won't be around anymore.
I seriously don't give a shit about being a "premiership force" at the moment.

All I want to see is a team that puts in for 80 minutes every week......plays to their damn potential, has a ****ing dig.....and Smith got a team of no names to play that way until he announced he was moving on - I have faith he can do the same here.

Goodbye to the one out and kick and hope era of Fittler.

I want the team to be a premiership force, otherwise, what's the point?
I'm sick of supporting a team of nuffies who can't go with the top sides.

We will miss the experience of Cross and Monaghan in our centres, and Fitzgibbon and Harrison in our pack.

Until we find suitable replacements for these blokes, we are always going to struggle, to be completely honest.

I honestly don't mind Morbs as a centre, but Jones and Sa are simply not first-grade standard centres. We need an experienced (but not old) centre who can score tries, will come not too expensive, and can help out the kids.

Someone like Ashley Graham would be great, he is 25 this year, but has been playing first grade since 2002. He has been a good try-scorer wherever he has been, and has plenty of pace too.

Regardless of these blokes contract situations, if they are on the outer with their club, we should make an offer. It would be even better, as their previous club would most likely pay off a portion of the salary.

Ashley Graham - been playing since 2002, 52 tries in 113 games, turning 25 this year.
Jerome Ropati - been playing since 2004, 40 tries in 106 games, turning 25 this year.
Brad Tighe - been playing since 2005, 36 tries in 83 games, turning 25 this year.
Joel Reddy - been playing since 2005, 26 tries in 57 games, turning 24 this year.
Beau Champion - been playing since 2005, 19 tries in 51 games, turning 23 this year.

..and of course, the slightly older options:

Ty Williams - been playing since 2002, 77 tries in 138 games, turning 29 this year.
Phil Graham - been playing since 2002, 66 tries in 109 games, turning 28 this year.

There is slight risks with all these possible signings. Reddy is the only one with passable defense. Reddy and Champion only really established themselves as first-grade standard centres in 2008, and before that were bit-part outside back utilities. Phil Graham (2004, 2008), Brad Tighe (2006), Jerome Ropati (2007), Ash Graham (broke his leg at the end of 2003, missed first half of 2004), and Ty Williams (busted his knee early in 2006, missed the remainder of the season, and the first half of 2007) have had serious injuries in their careers that have kept them out of playing for substantial periods.

But really, we missed out on actual young talent like Dean Collis and Darryl Millard, so these are the only options out there.

Either chase these sorts of players OR persist with playing backrowers and utilities in the centres with mediocre-to-terrible results.

You do realise that a non Fittler Roosters team has made the semis once in the last 22 years. Is that good enough?

Also Brisbane have made the last 17 or 18 semi finals series.

At least be competitive enough to be respected by other teams and fans. At the moment we are the joke of the comp.

Exactly, don't need to be a premiership force to get our respect and pride back.

                                Thats faaaaaarked mate.

I always suspected we blew his signing but I have never seen anyone confirm it.

I remember when we signed Opes, I saw the headline and was genuinely excited cos I thought it was DA.

                                This club is mental.
