I have to say that Salvo was overrated as well. I think the players from 74 and 75 are correctly regarded when discussing faves. Of the modern players only Freddy and Horrie could stand in their company.

I think Horrie & Beetso (& Freddy of course) are the faves for Chooks our age (you seem like you are in that 35-45 year age range..apologies if if wrong)..

3 All Time greats..I reckon i'm safe in saying you'd agree that Horrie was the best player never to represent Australia..

Muppet Murray..Ruined Horrie's dream as a player..Then ruined the club as a coach..
Yep they are certainly in my top 5, Fitzy and Moz get in there somewhere. I am too young to have watched Brass and co. play for us, but my elders tell me he is true legend of our club.

How I wish that we could get horrie to come back to Aus and be our fitness/halves coach. He could potentially teach Pearce a lot. I heard not long ago on this forum that he has a son who is also a halfback.

I really enjoyed watching horrie play in my early days as an easts fan. I certainly missed him during the dark ages in the late 80s-90s. I couldn't believe some of the duds we had purchased during those years.
                Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

salvo was the heart of the chooks for our great depression yrs, the palm he did on sticky and run 50 odd meters is my standout. to be selected for aus and nsw in a poor team has got to hold some strenght on your overrated call. hughie is another standout from that poor era for me to.

Seriously doubt that he could to be honest. The game has changed a hell of a lot since Horrie last played.

seriously??? He was the heart and soul of our team through some lean years. I would compare his contribution to that of Allen Border with the australian cricket team.

He tried hard, he just wasn't that good a player.
