  • $BW - Bo Jackson

Anyone know anything about the NFL and Baseballer Vincent "Bo" Jackson???

ESPN do those great 30 for 30 docos and the recent one on Bo Jackson, a sport hopping freak, and one of the first mega marketed sportsmen, well it got me to thinking that $BW is our equivalent. A freakish sportsman at various sports and a marketing wet dream.

Discuss if you can be bothered.

    The FlogPen .

    You know it makes sense.

              I love those 30 for 30 doco's.

I've seen most of them, but the one I really wanted to watch, I missed.

The one where old mate took the fly ball out of someone's hand in a world series game.

Did you catch that one? Pardon the pun

Good old Steve Bartman, that guy still can't show his face in public in Chicago. I daresay that if the Sharks go without winning a premiership for 104 years like the Chicago Cubs, they'd be blaming some poor bloke in the crowd for that as well.

Here's a link on youtube for that particular 30 for 30, worth a watch.

That is one I have not seen mate, I will now with that Pootube link, thanks micase.

Great docos. HIG told me there are new ones out now and they seem to be playing them on ESPN currently mixed in with the old ones. The thing I like is there are sports I don't even watch shown but the actual story behind the event overrides the actual sport, some very tragic and inspirational stories. The recent one showing how 78% of NFL players are bankrupt 2 years after they retire was very good. Called Broke from memory. The Bling angle was funny.

They are great shows mate and yep Bo was a freak.
I honestly believe SBW will start a revolution. People atm cannot get their heads around it, coz most people don't like change. But in future, those athletes that are good enough, and multi skilled, benji, Slater, inglis, are gonna see it as a way of making every dollar whist they can.

It may take 10 or 20 years, but eventually I can see this being the norm and no one will bat an eye lid to it. The evolution of the star athletes.

Top post JC, exactly the thing I was feeling when watching the Doco, this is just the start of the star-athlete in this country. People are always initially resistant to change but it won't take the players and their managers and sponsors and the codes long to realize the potential here.

Just from my observations in modern times & I have NO problem with it but I wonder why coloured players want to play or try to play 2 different sports comparred to white guys.

I dont know all the sports in the world so I have no stats but from my media observations all these sports people like Michael Jordan & this guy Bo, Loti, Wendell, Will Chambers, KMH, Issy, SBW even Usain bolt is talking about having a crack at first class cricket are coloured comparred to white guys who try 2 different sports.

Yep totally agree with this. People want it the way it is because that is how it has always been done. People complain about no loyalty but IMO that went out the window with the modern day salary cap. For example, club great Bryan Fletcher leaving for Souths simply because it would have been financially stupid not to. The working life of a NRL player is so short. I urge every player to make as much as possible while they can. There is nothing mercenary or selfish about it.

Four Australians have represented Australia in three different sports so far in the history books...
