then again, there arent too many teams that play hockey competitively at a high level.
aus, holland, england and germany spring to mind
Aus, Holland, England, Germany, Argentina, NZ, South Africa, India, Pakistan, France, China, Korea and Japan are just a few that spring to mind. I love my hockey. Its the only sport I played consistently well for the past 30 years.

The Dutch women are ranked #1 and the men are either 2 or 3 I think atm.

Actually, I forgot to mention one of their other sports, cycling. I overlooked it because rather than seeing it as a sport, you see it every day here as a form of transportation but just about EVERYONE here rides a bike. The bike paths here are awesome and the rides through the dunes are fantastic.

i thought there was a league/union comp going on, but like most european teams, theyre growing. theyre league is like our soccer, its growing. it will get there eventually
Yeah I agree on the atmosphere. I am planning on heading over to the UK for a premier league match soon. Just to experience the atmosphere and get into some good old fashioned soccer violence!

the draw is randomised for the most part. if they took into consideration who wanted to play who and what day and what time, we wouldnt get the draw until the week before kick off
So each club doesn't put in request/preferences for how they would like the draw to be? Also it's been from memory 5 or so years since the roosters played the broncos in Brisbane in a regular fixture. So I am curious why is that so? Not a legitimate question in your eyes?

Why on earth. Should either or any club for that matter need to explain themselves to opposition supporters regarding there preferences to whom they choose play at home
I respect all our moderators here. Past present and even future. Always have done and always will do a wonderful job.

They don't 'need to' explain sh*t as your putting it, that's not what I am saying. I am merely interested (as well as a sh*t load of other sth east qld ROOSTER fans) to see/hear their logic around THEIR choice. Because from where I sit the games particularly between broncs and roosters have always been extremely well supported up here. The roosters as a team have always been well supported up here. We used to get bigger crowds at redcliffe when the roosters would pre season trial against broncs up here than what we get at most home games now. Slight exaggeration but not far off work considering some of our home crowds last few seasons.

Stand corrected once in 5 or 6 years. Again, no club 'needs' to explain their choices. But I would love to have an understanding of the process and the logic for the roosters not playing up here.

I would of thought the more games in Sydney and the less travelling the team has to do the better our chances, but i suppose i'm only thinking of whats best for the team.

Maybe you can write a letter to the NRL asking them to explain it to you.

I fully support your well thought out theory there Einstein but 1) it's well known players thrive playing at world class rugby league venues like suncorp, 2) they hate playing in front of poxy crowds in huge capacity stadiums that have 9,987 people in attendance when they could be playing in front of 25k 3) the roosters are 3/3 from in sth east qld in last 5/6 years and 4) you needed to use an emoticon to flatter your humour.

I don't need to write a letter to the NRL or ARLC-it's no issue. You answered my question. The draw doesn't have a game in sth east qld for the Roosters because they (Nrl) want the roosters to play as many games as possible in Sydney to better our chances. Thank you Kurt it all makes sense now. (Insert roll eyes emoticon).

Ah right, so we're better of playing up at Suncorp rather than our own home ground here in Sydney. I dont know how i didnt see that. LOL, and your calling me Einstein.

And no I never said the NRL set up the draw to improve our chances, but IMO the less travelling and more games in Sydney can only help us. Hope that wasnt too hard to for you to understand.

I think we did pretty well overall in the draw, you're never going to be 100% satisfied but we did pretty well. Not playing the Storm in Melbourne & playing 22/24 games in NSW are pretty satisfying results.

I've always thought though that if the club wants to take one of our home games to another area for a bit of a cash grab then we should head to QLD where we seem to have quite strong support. Considering it's usually a low crowd & considering they also seem to have quite strong support in QLD a Roosters Vs Raiders game @ Suncorp would surely draw quite well. Maybe at a more family friendly time than the Broncos who play every Friday night.

There's probably the chance to boost up the membership numbers too, give them a package that includes tickets to the game and an exclusive Roosters BBQ where they meet the players. Make it an annual event, I'd have no problem with this.

                              I don't think that's how it works.
I think you can forfeit a home game to play in a regional area aka Darwin (Good move Noyce) but I don't think you can take one to say Suncorp. We could do it but it would have to be a double header like what Manly have been doing. Bronc's play some one then Manly play someone.

We have a very good winning percentage Against the Broncos in Brisbane, and they have been putting us low on their preferred wish list ever since...Its fear...
