If Cooper signs with us, that is all.

    Ray,
Is this based on insight or just your opinion?

My opinion is, he is right up the Roosters (Nick's) alley. I have posted previously that I hope the Roosters steer clear of him but it would not surprised me 1 bit if they sign him.

Canavan said in the SBW press conference that our salary cap is full now that we have signed SBW. Unless we do a doggies and sign him for $500 and get steggles to pay him $499500, then we will not be able to sign him.

Steggles wouldn't be allowed to sign him because they are a sponsor. The Dogs get ANZ Stadium to pay their team's wages. It is neither a sponsor nor regarded as being affiliated with the team - even if it has a vested interest in filling the venue as much as possible.

Well, that would be fair... but, unfortunately, Allianz is managed by the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust and its activities are restricted by the SC & SG Trust Act (1978). ANZ is run by a private company (which, oddly enough, was previously run by the current Bulldogs CEO).

If he was prepared to play League for us & League only I would be receptive to that. I actually think he could successfully make the transition to League & play FB possibly 5/8. He played League growing up in NZ with SKD, I may be wrong but I thought I read he played League 1st & then switched to Union in his later years.

So going on the scenario that he also wants to balance Japanese Rugby, Boxing & playing for the Roosters, I think 1 guy doing that at the club is enough.

For now ralphy SBW & possibly Cooper are the minority in regards to 1 year contracts playing League & Japanese Union plus Boxing on the side. Unless the ARLC some how ban it the scenario quite easily could be in 10 years time that alot of guys have 1 year contracts & play League & Japanese Rugby. Guys like Sterlo & Kenny played the off season in England before the English comp run parallel with the NRL comp. Thats not dissimiliar.

Just get Nick to pay him, he pours millions of his own money into the club each year.
