  • Grade 1: a small number of fibers are torn resulting in some pain, but allowing full function.
Grade 2: a significant number of fibers are torn with moderate loss of function.
Grade 3: all muscle fibers are ruptured resulting in major loss of function.

I saw the photo of SBW & the Japanese Doctor? & his arm was in a sling non weight barring which is what I believe would be part of the procedure for a grade 2 or 3 but to then see him at Sydney Airport on TV holding the little bub which I know would only weigh 5kg max & his arm not in a sling it's obvious that it is not serious.

It has crossed my mind that it could be a put on.
Why would he put it on? Maybe to be fully paid & get out of the 2nd part of the Japanese Rugby contract?

    • Yeh y not

if he is contracted to jap rugby, im sure they would be pissed big time about his injury. If he has 6 weeks recovery his team will have about 6 rounds to go. So if they play like shit the jap team wont make the finals.

      So we $bw earlier.

      • There is a few pictures floating around with SBW and a little baby. Also he and Quade Cooper were at 4 seasons last night in Sydney. It doesn't look like the injury could be all that bad. He was at Rooster HQ yesterday someone said on twitter? Maybe it could of been after the elder mundine quit as his trainer he wanted a quick way out of that fight. All speculation I guess!!!

I doubt the Japanese team would pay him out if there was no MRI evidence of injury.. Maybe he is not so keen to fight Botha.. I also doubt the injury would be grade 3 given he seemed to have reasonable function of both his arms at Sydney airport.

I do remember at the time talks of a 750k payout from the Nasser camp, paid by Mundine but I've done some google searches and can't find anything on it...
Yep R6. A transfer fee was paid but its not compensation and the amount was so minor in comparrison to the lost earnings.

When it was revealed he was being checked by our medical staff first thing when he arrived to Sydney the exact same thing came to mind, has Nick pulled a master stroke? Concoct a Grade 3 tear (which is really a 2) so he can have a clean up surgery and rehab here for 3 months, doesn't lose his Japanese rugby pay day and can delay the fight with the fat ****er from South Africa.

Sonny Bill Williams Says Chest Surgery Successful

Boxing All Black Sonny Bill Williams had successful surgery on a chest injury in Sydney on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old announced the news on Twitter a day after arriving from Japan, where he picked up the pectoral injury playing rugby union for the Panasonic Wild Knights last weekend.

"Just spoke to the doctor operation went well, Thanks for the support I've truly been blessed," tweeted Williams.

With Japanese rugby on a five-week break, Williams initially flew to Sydney to prepare for a boxing bout next month.

Advertisement But it was rumoured that the dual international was also poised to formally sign a contract to return to rugby league with the Sydney Roosters.

Instead, Williams went straight to the NRL club's headquarters at Moore Park to undergo scans on an injury that could threaten or at least delay his high-profile switch back to the code after walking out on the Bulldogs in 2008.

Fairfax reported today that Williams could be out of action for three-to-five months.

The injury puts in jeopardy his return to the Wild Knights, where he is contracted until the end of January, while his heavyweight fight with South African veteran Francois Botha on November 24 will almost certainly be postponed.

And while his mooted deal with the Roosters might still eventuate, the untimely injury has the potential to further complicate negotiations that have been bubbling away for months.

In July, Williams said he would quit the All Blacks to fulfil a handshake agreement made several years ago to return to rugby league in the NRL in 2013.

Lol how stupid do you think the Japenese are, they will have him checked inside out before they give him one dollar, they will even give him a prostrate examination. It is what it is, and whether it's 3 months or 5 months, this type of injury weakens the athletes upper body strength because they can't do any weights training out all. For SBW coming back to the rigors of NRL, this can't be good, he will take another 6 weeks to get back his strength and confidence.

Your right he wont be doing a lot of weight training and certainly nothing that puts strain on the pec so benchpress and the really important upper body strength training is out of the question for him.If i were Nick i wouldnt be signing with sonny until we see how his rehab is going.

He had an MRI in Japan and SBW tweeted "hurt it today..results back nothing serious, small tear"

2 days later he is seeing our medical staff, a day after that he has surgery.

It doesn't add up, Nick's pulled some strings here, it has his stink all over it.

SBW's next football of any code will be an Easts trial 2-3 weeks out from Round 1 of the premiership, put your house on it.
