I see bad things arising. A crowd sanctioned king that the NRL could ban.

      Agree with Teo.

Or lets use the money to chase Matt Scott. He's off contract next year and is a CURRENT international.

If I'm not mistaken, the highest paid player we have after SBW is Pearce.

So maybe your point is that the club has pissed away too much money on a dud already.

For people to state that he's in the peak of his career is a bit misguided.....which career is that? I watched the RU test last night and I reckon they'd think I was in the peak of MY career if I could play with/against mugs like that every week.....the standard of ball skills at the highest level of union leaves a lot to be desired. It's a million miles away from the NRL.

To pay a bloke in the region of $800K on what's basically a gamble smacks of desperation to me. Especially when you let him start calling the shots about when he's likely to get here and start training with the team

Who knows what the standard of Jap rugby is like...but I'm willing to bet it's not the sort of preparation a bloke needs when he hasn't played NRL for 5 years.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I think the whole episode will end in tears...and with Easts being a lot thinner in the wallet department.
Would there be much difference in the fitness and toughness of UK SL compared you Yawnion??? IMO they would be pretty well on par.

How many blokes come back here after stints in the UK SL and dominate??? King, Hoffman and Dallas Johnson are just 3 who did so this season. And there have been many more over the last 10 seasons who have done a similar thing.

Also what about Burgess, Ellis and Jimmy Graham??? They grew up coming thru a supposedly much softer system and have had a lot of success in the NRL, some would say dominated over here. Didn't take them years either, they all showed straight away they were more than up to NRL footy.

IMO $BW has the potential to be better than those blokes. He has shown us in the past what he is capable of in RL. I can't see any reason that he couldn't play as well as he did and perform at that level very early on in the season.

As for money, if anyone believes he will earn anywhere near what he can playing Yawnion and Boxing youse are looking for excuses to not have him here. Which is fine not everyone has to agree. But always back to the money, it's such a bloody tedious nothing argument, it bores the shit out of me. Fark who gives a shit what they earn. As long as they perform I really can't be bothered worrying about something I can't control and have NFI about cos no one is gonna tell anyone what they earn anyways, especially hacks from the newspapers.

Is ANY signing not a risk???

I'm not bothered how much Sonny Jim is earning, as long as he ends up being worth it. But at this point, do you think it makes sense to pay him more than 95% of blokes currently in the NRL?

Regarding the fitness/toughness/Skill level of SL v Union......I'd say the SL boys have them covered easily. After watching last nights Bledisloe Cup, I'd say Clovelly Crocs have them covered as well.....

I have NFI what $BW or any other player earns mate. I don't read the Tellucrapp so I don't get to see what they guestimate everyone's salary to be. So the bloke will get as much coin as he is able, as every player will and should.

IMO the players won't be worried about the coin he's getting. I believe, especially the young Bros in our club, would see $BW as a hero. They would've all grown up wanting to be $BW, and will be absolutely stoked to get the opportunity to play with their hero.

As those kids in the early 2000s did with Freddy. I do hope we get similar results as we were getting then though.

And that's why we are signing him I gather. Someone that the youngsters at the club want to emulate. A bloke who has made his mistakes and grown into a man who is respected by sportspeople everywhere. A non drinker and a fitness fanatic and from all reports a very focussed and determined individual.

He attracts interest from fans, the media and sponsors. People turn the Teev on just to watch blokes like that. Whether we agree with it or not the bloke is a hero to youngsters, which our club is full of, and really that's just the way it is. This generation has their sporting heroes, IMO $BW is a major one of them in the footy world.

Judging his signing on one game of Yawnion at the end of the season, with little to actually achieve, and which $BW didn't even play in is being a little simplistic IMO. Me personally I never watch Yawnion anymore, I have seen his Pootube highlights that's enough, he is able to still run and offload pretty much at will and he can still tackle, I don't need to worry if he can still play or not.

He grew up playing RL, he dominated at the highest level, he left and started at the grass roots of Yawnion and worked his way up to being a dominant force at the highest level in that code, all the while boxing. What he's achieved is amazing and he still wants to come back and play RL again, not cos of coin cos we know he can earn more elsewhere, no cos he's a competitive carnt that likes to WIN.

That's all I need, JUST WIN BABY.

Every signings a risk. But that's what it's all about, letting it all hang out sometimes. If you hang back and let others have all the fun you end up like Souffs were. Now they have realized what needs to be done they are doing it better than us. Someone like $BW IMO gets us back to the field.

The hate will return and the hate comes from fear. And I reckon they will fear again baby. I reckon our blokes will rip in next season after the last couple have been so meek. I believe signing a $BW will just tip them over the edge. Loco I like it a lot. I would like to see a suspension Rnd 1. Someone remove Burgesses big melon.

              Frenzy.

People are setting their expectations to high on SBW is my opinion. I think it will take him a while for him to adjust to it again and considering he will probably only be here for a year, I can't really see the point.

Mutt Rogers, Wendi Sailor and Lord Tiquri did very well straight back from Yawnion mate. I don't see why $BW would be any different???

Would you prefer michael jennings for 650k? There is not many options up for grabs in terms of quality signings for little money. beau ryan, heighinton are not gamebreakers and thats why they are cheap.

Ayshford's on the outer at the Tigpies, as they are going after Jennings. Perhaps a chance of wearing the tricolor. He wouldn't be on the same coin as SKD and would be infinitely less mercurial, in my opinion.

Farrrrrrrrk, well bloody said. It took a bit but the message is clear.

If anything SBW is taking a massive risk coming back to League. Like you said what he could earn playing the other & boxing would have most others not switching back, his loyalty on a handshake deal he made 5 years ago is what is bringing him back IMO.

Ya poor buggar, why punish yourself like that?

Top level Netball is a better spectacle than that.

I think everyone gets a free shot in 13 with new coaches and management.
and we will have an extra 1.2mil to spend if sbw and skd dont resign in 14.
