Fullback was an entirely different beast when Lockyer was starting out his career, he was a rake with little muscle mass and he was indeed lightning fast - no fullback is built like this any more.

Billy Slater was hardly musclebiound when he started 1st gradee The year or 2 before that he was riding track gallops for Gai Waterhouse

Our kids have a lot to develop, both physically and mentally (on and off the field). But that's why I believe in two or three years we are all going to be the proudest supporters in the comp because these kids will grow into men and be a real and consistent force.

Lockyer was electric in his young days...in fact even through to 2003/04 he still had it in that department.

What gave him an edge though (apart from the rest of his obvious skills) was his balance....the way he glided across the ground was phenominal.

Still the best fullback I've seen in my 30+ years following this game.

He's never going to one of the quick guys over 100 or even 50m...but he will beat his opposite time and again...and create opportunities.

We need to have quick guys tailing him in our attacking shape.

Given his tree trunk legs its amazing he has that evasive skill...but he does...and given his youth and RL experience what he is producing now is something truly special.

              What a coup this was.

I just ran into my old window washer mate Bryan Fletcher at the Coles near me as one of his mates lives in my building and he told me he will be sponsoring RTS next year. Fletch is hoping for big things from RTS and has confidence his speed will pick up with time and experience.
