  • Anasta's contract?

Does anyone know when we have to re-sign him next?

This article states that he is with us till 2011:

    http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/spo...-1111114900816

....but then, this recent article states that Braith is off-contract at the end of the 2010 season:

    http://www.nrl.com/newsviews/latestn...t/default.aspx

    Which is correct?

He is off contract at the END of 2010, hence making him contracted to us up until 2011? The 'till' always confuses me. All I know is he has one more year on his contract

The article specifically says "until the END of 2011".

But if he is off-contract at the end of this year, that is your call.

Next year will be a big year for re-signings.

Willie Mason, Braith Anasta, James Aubusson, Anthony Minichiello (if he re-signs), Lopini Paea. That is 5 of our key players.

                  Article from: The Australian

THE rumours swirling around the Sydney Roosters prompted Braith Anasta's manager to seek assurances his client was still wanted.

Concerned at the arrival of Todd Carney next season, and Anasta's surprise switch to fullback for last Saturday night's game against Penrith, Greg Willett rang Roosters supremo Nick Politis.

Anasta has another two years remaining on his contract but Willett was concerned he could be part of a purge. Politis assured him that Anasta - the captain - remained part of the club's plans.

"He said it's fine - we would like another six of him," Willett said. Willett denied the Roosters captain had fallen out with coach Brad Fittler. However, it is understood Fittler gave his entire squad a dressing-down this week over the deluge of rumours surrounding the coaching staff.

At that meeting, it is believed Anasta and Fittler exchanged words.

This week, The Australian revealed Anasta had been offered to European rugby union clubs. Willett said he was not involved but confirmed he was aware another player manager may have been acting on Anasta's behalf without authorisation.

Why does the Roosters website no longer have a contracts list - nor are their contracts mentioned in their profiles?

All this info used to be there, it might have been a little out of date, but at least it was accessable.

Or don't they want the supporters to know who they've signed or who they haven't.

Because Telstra Bigpond took over running the NRL websites and ours this year. This has bought the standards we were privaleged to down greatly.

Maybe it was a contract till the end of 2010, with an option for 2011.

That way, he is here till 2010 but can explore the open market at the end of next year too.

That is the only explanation really.

There has been long time rumours that he is looking at French Rugby but I truly hope he stays. If Carney comes, our 6, 7 and 13 looks potent. Attacking and kicking options all over the park. Plus if one of them happens to get injured then there is the backup there. Without Anasta this year it is all through Pearce. Even though he has done a super job and has probably matured him as a player, the opposition knows all of our attack starts from him.

''He is the club,'' said Minichiello, who has signed for one more year. ''He's a legend. He's just a champion player and a champion bloke and all of us want to win as many games as we can for the rest of this season to see him out on a high.''
I havent heard an "official" announcement as yet though. Thats from the Artie article about us letting Fitzy go.
