If we sign Taylor for only 1 year, 2 things can happen;
He doesn't have time to get the joint moving, develop players, or even operate with his own roster, and we have a pointless, wasted season
He does well, produces some results and is building to something, and is then flicked and Bellamy (or whoever) has to start over. Might also have players wanting to go with him to wherever he moves on to
Either way, we lose.

Whats available ?Only Bellamy of any quality and thats in one years time or we do a Hasler.
Ive already heard Nicks baulked at his asking price .Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

What looks like happening though is an interim coach for a year while Nick tries to hook a big name for 2014 and that to me is just dumb. But our club is known to be dumb about coaching issues in the past.

It's just such a typical Politis move. Go into the market and pay a fortune for someone who's supposedly near the top of the tree, and expect that they'll have the same results at this basket case of a joint (with Politis sticking his nose into everything) that they had elsewhere.
And what happens if Taylor goes great with us in the year that he's here?
Politis is a loon
Given Taylor is here, has worked with a lot of the players and his alternative is not to coach first grade, he is more likely to want the job as he gets the opportunity to show what he can do and increase his marketability for the future. If he has a great year then so what, it just means Bellamy comes to a club which is on the up and he can build on this. It also enahnces Taylors prospects of getting an NRL coaching gig elsewhere long term.
Of course there is the possibility that if the club gets Bellamy, then we may see a Hasler type situation where the Storm decide to cut him loose.. Again this works in our favour.. Bellamy to me is such a proven professional that it would not surprise me to see him still stay at the Storm in 2013.
Remember this is on the basis the club got Bellamy. If they miss out then the club needs to appoint a long term coach which may or may not be Taylor....

The next step would be to plan for what to do for the one year in between which leaves only 2 options. Keep Smith, it is clear that is not working or find a 1 year interim.

I agree keeping Smith is untenable, but just not sold on the idea of having Taylor (who I rate) for only 1 year.
I reckon if Bellamy is a no go until 2014, forget about him. Give Taylor (or someone else if they don't want to go with him) the gig for 3 years, and let him build something, without any interference of any sort from Politis
