  • Why we need to persevere

The last time we were trying to 'rebuild' (admittedly with a slightly worse roster) we decided to splash out on omeley and mason which cost us guys like harrison, williams, shillington and others. Since then, they have all gone onto to do great things and would be welcome additions to our side even now.

Although they are hard to watch at times etc, we have the makings. I am happy that the club is not walking away from their commitment of building a dynasty. While I think the coaching and management could be better (rest assured, this will be rectified come the seasons end), we have a seriously good young roster and are making intelligent signings like oldfield, seluini, maloney and co to bolster it. The worst thing we could do now is sign 2 or 3 top lines players in their twilight years who would cost us cap space and a future with a raft of youngsters likely to move on as a result.

Although the addition of players like tolman even (which I am for) seems smart now, maybe its worth another year to allow guys like bosden who are in that very mould to have a crack at being our fensom/gallen/tolman but for half the price.

The addition of SBW will go a long way along with maloney imo. I honestly think we need to persist next year with virtually the same roster plus our acquisitions so far and see what that brings us. Dont forget that smith and POS have made clear that their goal is to get all our players into the 50-100 game experience category. We are getting there but not there yet. Things will turn and happen we just need to keep the faith

Imo at the end of next year is when we will be able to see whether this has all been worth it as either we will be a team starting to show signs of greatness or we will have virtually not developed/improved at all. dont discount the value of not really having anyone in the squad seriously injured presently also meaning everyone is in for a big preseason

The thing that holds us back the most is our discipline. Our forwards make so many errors and Smith chooses his roster based on size. We have no Fensom/Dallas Johnson/Tolman/Graham/Stagg/Farah/Woods/Mannering type players. Cordner and Bosden are ones in the making but next time we recruit a forward keep that in mind and that is why IMO Sam Moa is a poor signing. Unfortuneately many of the good Englishman are all on contract eg Charnely, Westwood. John Bateman is promising but we dont need another second rowe what we need is a utility.

I wish we also currently had Dallas Johnson, Ryan Hinchcliffe, Robbie Farah and Alex Glenn

I thought the title was "Why we need to be perverse", sadly it wasn't.

Agree. There is a strategy and while it hurts right now it will pay dividends.

These things take time.We have some really good teenagers coming thru the ranks atm.Sheck, moga, cordner i was impressed by tupo on debut, henry is a goodun so will evans be as well. You add sonny bill and maloney to the mix and the roosters are going to win more than they lose next year.moga and sheck are going to be lethal running off sonny bill.

Seluini needs to be the No.1 No.9, 60 mins for Nafe, 20 mins for Jake per game should fix that prob, FPN is still improving IMO, as he becomes more of a leader I reckon his consistency will improve.

                      so 2 weeks to go

parra has souffs and merge....possible no wins, merge may give up

flanny wearers... have tittens and the drongos. no wins as the 2 teams need the wins for finals

us...... wests then dullbogs.....hmmmmm wests maybe but not the dullbogs. i have heard dogs will rest stars, i cant see that happening.

we need one win to cancell out the spoon.

tyc boys are still in 6th and will need bot wins to get thru. both teams wests and dogs are higher on the ladder

jets arer just in the 8 but if they drop their bundle again like yesterday the dont deserve to play finals....they have one game and a bye to come.

Why do people keep talking about Tolman? Is he off contract?

its no secret that if hasler can find him a home he will. Not because he doesnt rate him but because they already have guys like graham who are in a very similar mould
