The last time we were trying to 'rebuild' (admittedly with a slightly worse roster) we decided to splash out on omeley and mason which cost us guys like harrison, williams, shillington and others. Since then, they have all gone onto to do great things and would be welcome additions to our side even now.
Although they are hard to watch at times etc, we have the makings. I am happy that the club is not walking away from their commitment of building a dynasty. While I think the coaching and management could be better (rest assured, this will be rectified come the seasons end), we have a seriously good young roster and are making intelligent signings like oldfield, seluini, maloney and co to bolster it. The worst thing we could do now is sign 2 or 3 top lines players in their twilight years who would cost us cap space and a future with a raft of youngsters likely to move on as a result.
Although the addition of players like tolman even (which I am for) seems smart now, maybe its worth another year to allow guys like bosden who are in that very mould to have a crack at being our fensom/gallen/tolman but for half the price.
The addition of SBW will go a long way along with maloney imo. I honestly think we need to persist next year with virtually the same roster plus our acquisitions so far and see what that brings us. Dont forget that smith and POS have made clear that their goal is to get all our players into the 50-100 game experience category. We are getting there but not there yet. Things will turn and happen we just need to keep the faith
Imo at the end of next year is when we will be able to see whether this has all been worth it as either we will be a team starting to show signs of greatness or we will have virtually not developed/improved at all. dont discount the value of not really having anyone in the squad seriously injured presently also meaning everyone is in for a big preseason
