I doubt that. If he was pouring money into the club why were the members hit up to fund our much vaunted "High Performance Unit"? Not that it accomplished much in the way of high performances.

    Chook.

I seriously doubt that Politis puts in a great deal of his own money nowdays towards the club. I suspect that ended with the advent of the salary cap.

Politis has been living off the glory of his past generousity for years now.

What exactly does he contribute $$$ wise???

How do you know what he contributes???

Sounds to me like a Tellucrapp article presenting their speculation of a players salary as fact.

          You know it makes sense.

Well answer me this? It's reported it takes $14 million to run a club, where do you think this club gets its funds from, the leagues club lol, sponsors lollol, NRL grant, I don't think so ? Nick Politis is chairman/ defacto owner of the board/club because he puts his money where his mouth is, and the board knows it, that's why he is chairman.

I can understand your point and appreciate your comments tdk and I too don't doubt politis has invested into the club but I think it is highly exaggerated yet if not then it really is for his personal benefit with the easts group of companies and not just the football team as evident of the company structure of members not being able to vote at a agm
Like yourself I would like to see a better run club that has no drama but is treated with respect as well as well performed teams

I'm sure the benefit works both ways, the football club most likely brings some kudos or acclaim to those involved but in Nick's case, he brings a network of investors, he has huge pulling power with the powers to be, and no doubt invests money into the club. No footy club has ever made an owner or members money or wealth, they are massive cash cows and do not make profit, trust me, or better still ask News limited,Delmege or Crowe, if owning a footy club is great business.

You said we aren't aware of the bloody huge financial investment Nick makes each year to the club.

I just wondered how you knew how much it actually is???

I see you don't know and I was right you are just giving opinion masquerading as fact.

You fired up though. You must defend well???

BTW what does Nick make off his investment in the club??? After all why invest without the make??? That's what business dudes do don't they???

I am all for a win win situation with politis group of companies am sure he could pull in investors too yet I think he is starting to lose touch - bringing in the ex dj CEO macguiness was poor judgement as too a lots of his decisions with signing bulldog mason and co and the list is growing. There was a recent financial article describing politis as a once powerful figure so if that be the case then pulling in future investors maybe a problem. His form over the past 5 years is highly debatable due to the section making and poor judgement which I wish was not the case , in the real corporate world he would have been voted off or paid to leave due to performance but in the clubs case that is not possible due to the company structure. Structure is spoken here in regards to Smith not implementing it and it is somewhat uncanny that the easts group of companies maybe suffering from no structure when the football club is last on the list. Due to the supposed loss of power of politis and the under performing football team the longer he remains involved with football affairs then possibly the club is further de valued.i just only wish he stepped aside as I have respected him for his support and loyalty to the team yet he really needs to step aside from football matters and have a board free of probity issues and nepotism
