What's the latest with these 3 players? Wong and Steep are able to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1 and I believe Xavier Va'a is as well it would be a huge shame to lose these 3 players Blake Steep had a breakout year, Siua Wong continues to get better and Xavier Va'a has massive wraps on him surely we could have re-signed Wong by now instead of letting him go to open market where rival clubs and rugby union are reportedly interested.

I'd say we've tried and he wants more money.Originally posted by SamKerrSimp View PostWhat's the latest with these 3 players? He'll find out what he's really worth from November 1 and go from there imo.
Hard player to valuate actually. Maybe somewhere between $350k and $420k?

Yep i agree. i think most of us would be ropable if we lose them…especially Wong and Steep.Originally posted by SamKerrSimp View PostWhat's the latest with these 3 players? Wong is 22 people were saying similar things about Whyte at the end of the 2024 season and he has now established himself as one of the premier props in the game Wong can be on the trajectory next season tooOriginally posted by Random Rooster View PostWong is talented but still has some holes in his game- especially concentration issues in defence.
Id be shocked if Steep is allowed to sign elsewhere-give him a 3 year plus contract

Xavier Vaa has been taken over by his brother and Seve and spent a lot of time out injured - will need to keep up with the speed of the modern game
steep should be okay to re sign but also has rads, 2 x butch and Foketi who are all similar sub 100kg guys who can play lock and edge but seems a keeper
Wong has locked down the right edge now! Spent time in nsw cup and in the middle improving his defence and work ethic and now paying off - just needs time with Walker and starting to run lines and create offloads which will come in the next 2 seasons
a great athlete and seems a great guy, especially if Critchon may leave or reduced contract next time we need to keep Wong

Daily tele
The Roosters are set to reward one of their brightest young prospects in Blake Steep with a new deal before the November 1 transfer window opens.
It is understood that Steep has inked a new deal to remain at the Roosters despite 12 months left on his contract.
The 20-year-old played 22 games for the Roosters this year having made his NRL debut last season where he featured in three matches.

I do hope Wong stays with us and reaches his potential. He is a sensationally gifted athlete. One of the most balanced movers you'll see for his size, fast as well. He hasn't quite come on as much as I had hoped he would at this stage. I think on potential, he could definitely be one of the best back-rowers in the comp.
Just on your post Mickie Lane I absolutely agree. DCE has been the talk of this year, but we've recruited the NSW hooker and it has hardly rated a mention from the media. I think he will be tremendous for us, and is exactly what we need. I feel as though we'll be a dramatically improved side next year, and we weren't too bad this year.
