I love Lewis as a player, but the only positions he will play are lock or second row. Sure he can fill in if we have an injury but he is past his wing/centre days a long time ago!
I think our backrow is already good enough for first grade. From Cordner, Aubusson, Guerra, FPN, SBW & prospects like Leilua, Bosden, Symonds, Cherrington, Arona & Takarangi we're more than well served. What we do lack is an ability to CREATE points, we need someone inside Moga who can set him up all day long and Lewis is more than capable of that.
I think centre is fastly becoming the most underrated position in the game (and that's coming from someone who thinks that spending big money on outside backs is crazy) but when you look at what Jamie Lyon does for the Sea Eagles every week he's just as valuable as any fullback and a lot of halves. He makes average wingers look like superstars, skill trumps athleticism every day of the week.
I still think Moga is the long term answer to our left centre spot, he has a lot more skill than people have seen yet but I'd have no problem with him starting out on the wing.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about all the athletes we should sign, the majority of them get found out eventually.

You're one of the last remaining passengers on the Braith train, and now you want us to sign Luke Lewis for $400K + to play in the centres? Good lord man
And to try and make your case you compare Lewis with Lyon? Lyon is an out and out centre, with a centre's footwork and a centre's brain. So much of a centre he struggles at 5/8
Have you not seen Maubs in the centres?
Slow guys don't work in the centres, or at 5/8

Maubs doesn't have anywhere near the ball playing ability of Luke Lewis, so I can't really fathom how they're even comparable nor what your point is. Aubusson is a hole runner, has limited ball playing skills, high workrate in defence but not highly involved in attack and has never really been able to break the line himself or create opportunities for his outside men well. Nothing like Luke Lewis. The only thing they share in common is they play in the backrow, when's the last time you saw Lewis play?

[QUOTE=Rooster_6;232040]I said some months back that I think Braith is quite obviously and exclusive backrower these days, his running game has deteriorated but he still has the temperament to be a backrower. I thought the hard game suited him on Monday night and he more than showed he's still a first grader, just not at 5/8. Anyway that's all irrelevant.QUOTE]
I take it this is some kind of joke?
Lovely guy Braith, world class bloke but as a backrower he makes Ben Ross look like Ben Barba.
His stats last year in a backrow shirt were not of NSW Cup standard let alone NRL 1st Grader standard.
He seems to provide little more than a roadblock at whatever possie he fills these days. I am interested to see what SuperCoach Sheens makes of him next year.
