I have been saying for a while that Pearce is still learning the game you dont become really good till you are around 27 to 30. Bird Cronk Thurston Myles Watmough Lewis all prove that.
It's people like Ricky Stuart & the selectors that think he is the best NSW 1/2 back, for me it's obvious that he is not up to playing 1/2 back for NSW, he does not have the ability at this stage of his career. IMO Pearce cannot read the play, he has no individual brilliance, no short kicking game & no ability to get repeat sets of 6. And last night he was rag dolled.
He seems to get so much lenency, alot of people will say when he is playing at the Roosters that he doesn't have good enough players around him but for the 3 games this year in SOO he has had the best NSW players around him & really he has played no different than what he does for us.
Is he overrated? Yes he is.
Will he become a champion player? IMO No
To me Luke Walsh Jarrod Mullen Trent Hodkinson are all on par with Pearce. The best NSW 1/2 back is Peter Wallace.

On Wallace, I don't reckon there is much between them and to me they are similar types of players - not the individual spark types. Wallace is is four years older than Pearce and I reckon that's why Pearce gets picked over him - there is more scope for development.

Inglis targeted Carney, and the forwards went at Pearce. I thought we had a good shot at smashing Thiaday out of the game as he was absolutely smashed time after time for the first 15 then they stopped running at him and just let him recover. I reckon he was badly rattled early as was shown by Morris running through him to set up the first try.Last edited by SConcierge; 07-05-2012, 10:20 PM." A man can only walk as far as he can see"

On Pearce theticket I hope & wish that he does become a champion but I really doubt he will reach those heights. Good 1st grader Yes thats it. IMO

He made Seven tackles and zero linebreaks that's unacceptable at that level. The problem is he was afforded the belief by many at this club and started thinking he was a much better player, than the reality of his true ability. Then soo selectors bought in on it, and voila a legend in his own mind was born. How many times have I heard we are building a team around a guy who at the time was only 19... That's just ludicrous for someone who at no time showed the promise as someone like DCE showed for Manly right from game 1 of his nrl debut.
